First let me say welcome back Laurrie. I haven't seen you around in a long time. It looks like you are jumping back in head first. Nice having you back.
One thing I am noticing is the quality of the crosses listed here. Even the novice has as good a chance of comming up with some great Brugs as the more experienced growers. In the next few years we will see some good looking Brugs. Good luck everyone.
kenboy
Hello Ken and hello to Maggie too :)
HOW have you 2 been??
It's been awhile since I've been on here, but when it gets so cold outside I get bored and have to come play....
there are alot of nice crosses listed, I love peeking into other folks gardens and can't wait to see the outcome of these crosses like you said in a few years!!
Laurrie
If I posted all of my seedling names.. this site would seize up! LOLOL!!!
AND people on dialup would have me banned! LOLOL!!!!
oh no, but that's a good thing, plant MORE!!! LOL
I'm sorry Laurrie.. I should have said welcome back too.. how rude of me! How are your brugz doin? Do you still have "Donna's White"??? I don't.. :( It froze. Looks like you will have a good batch of babiez this year!
Oh gosh.. please don't tell Teresa to plant more.. LOL She just might! I think she has like 3 thousand babiez by now.. LOL (just kidding) I think her and Patricia have em stacked 3 high by now..
LOL howdy, no worries, I snuck back in awhile ago.
and NO I dont' have Donna's white any longer either, but now that I got my greenhouse (not up yet, just bought it today) I am hoping to get some nice ones and be able to keep them this time around!!!
LOL well now Teresa and Patricia probably do have them stacked 3 or 4 high by now, but that's great! I would go nuts with that many seedlings LOL
I AM going nutz! ;-)
I'm re-living last year vicariously through Teresa... LOL I give her such a bad time about all those babiez..
The only thing I can say about a GH is make it tall.. I had to kick out a bunch of "teenager" brugs cause they were getting scoliosis real bad from hitting the roof!
I love my GH.. Congrats on getting one, you will love it!
Laurrie, I am going nuts ! I just came in from working on potting them up to the next size pots. I don't have a clue where I am going to put them all now because they won't fit back into the greenhouse. We aren't past our freeze date yet, Oh well, it always works out some way.
LOLOL well just be patient, and you are right, everything always seems to work out some how!!! LOL
We are only growing about 40 seedlings this year. Something about planting a hundred plants and only having one or two keepers has taken the fun out of it for me. The ones we decide to grow will only be a few of each cross. We are working with Joan Cook. She germinates the seeds and gets them started and then we take over. We have more room for the seedlings and she is a master at getting them up and on their way. We try to start the seeds early in the Fall so that by Spring they are ready to set out. This way we have a good many bloom before the first frost.
I will work on a list of what we have later. I stepped up an Adeline X Miss Emily MacKenzie this weekend to a three gallon pot that is waist high already. Now just hoping for a cool wet Summer. LOL
kenboy
Hey that makes total sense, someone breeds them and someone else growing them out, I have grown out for some folks in the past, its interesting seeing what they come up with, my biggest fear here was always the winter months, and keeping them alive!!
Do you have your other greenhouses all set up, I noticed on a thread you were getting another one, and that is soo cool, you'll have plants everywhere!!
I'll be glad to baby sit any unwanted seedlings!!!! Mine molded and haven't sprouted!!!!
Jeri
I made the mistake of starting about 75 seedlings last summer. I have had a heck of a time over wintering them in my small greenhouse, so I am not starting anymore until next winter, it is much more space effective.
I am always looking for help in growing out some of my own crosses, if anyone is interested in seeds.
I would be interested in growing some seeds for you let me know.
James
All of you are so inspired and dedicated to start so many seeds. I did my first seeds last year and learned my lesson. Lol. I had 5 gal. pots everywhere: so many on the garden walkways it was almost impossible to move about, so many on the drive we had difficulty being able to drive our cars into the garages, so many on two of our terraces a friend carefully suggested the garden was a bit over grown. LOL This year I'm only starting less than half of one of my pods and I have been warned by sweetheart, they better not "impede" his movements or require dragging a hose to them every evening. He can be such a spoil sport!
Tussee
Well Hi Tussee! Glad to see you back!
I swore I wasn't gonna do that many seeds.. but winter blues got the best of me... I'm in trouble again this year.. but the great part is the Fall pics! My favorite time of year!
Thank you, ZZ. The downside to my limitation on new seedlings will be the real possibility of having all of them bloom white. Out of so many plants last year, I kept 5 for evaluation, with only 2 looking great.
Tussee
I definitely looking forward to everyone's birthing pics!
And here are all of mine.
Butterfly x Day Dreams
Adeline x Ma Belle Amie
Earth Angel x Mon Amour de Mareuil
Creamsickle x (Rothkirch x Pink Beauty) x Ludger's Windsong
Noing nothing about them, I just picked them for color and hoping for
some doubles. Not even a GH to put them in.
