What are these things and do I want them?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

These popped up next to the house, where we rarely walk, and grew to about 3 feet tall before we even noticed them. (blushing....) Does anyone know what they are and if we need to apologize to our neighbors/move now that we have let them get to the point where they are making seed pods? I've seen them next to the freeway, but I don't know if they were planted there on purpose or not.

Hmm.. that's not a very good picture of it. DH took the picture and then pulled the plant (I just went out to take a new picture, and the plant is gone), so I can't redo them. Sorry! I'll take another picture if it comes back.

It looked like some kind of Senna or Sesbania, but i couldn't tell which one.
Well I looked some more and I think this is what you had

See if you agree.

Could it be elderberry?

Hmm.. I'll look it up in PlantFiles.

Nope.. the leaves are similar, but not exactly the same. And it doesn't have berries, but seedpods. Thanks for the suggestion, though, Linda! :-)

Linda, that was my first thought also, but after looking around I found that Elderberry has three sets of leaflets and a terminal leaflet on each compound leaf, while Marylyn's plant doesn't.
Also her plant has a bean like seedpod, which Elderberry wouldn't have, since the flowers grow in large clusters and have little fruits. Here is a picture of the Elderberry.
