This hawk was brave enough to land on my water fountain beside my living room windows! I was across the room in the kitchen and when he looked away I dropped down on the ground and tried to get my camera but he flew off but I managed to get this one.
I recently had an adult Sharp-shinned and it looked smaller than this one. Maybe this is a juvenile Cooper's?

CLOSED: What kind?
Oops, I didn't know there was a whole thread for "identifying". Sorry to hog up space, but appreciate help. :)
Thats okay no problem, it does look like a Coopers and if its bigger than the other that would definitely fit.
Yep, juv Cooper's.

Thanks! The first time they visited my yard (a few years ago) I wasn't too happy but now I've learned they are just doing what they "do" and love seeing them. I'm hoping they are coming for the field mice that hang out at my feeders too! lol
