I tried a different way of rooting my brugs this winter..I thought to pot them up, put them under lights and feed them Eleanors fertilizer......some have died but most have made it and have pretty good root systems...now the question..a few are losing their color in the leaves and not producing large leaves...they are getting the same light and everything else...What is causing it?...Judy
Color of my brug leaves???
What's Eleanors fertilizer? You need to look into proble broadmites problems? Other with more experience, please chime in?
Can you post a picture?
Judy, I wish I could help. : (
The cane looks healthy still, but those new shoot's leaves ... ooooh, I suspect some type of leave miners? Wished bettydee would visit and take a look at that too. What do you think of that one Brenda?

I actually have a couple of plants that were worse than that! Mine turned pure white and curled.. I stripped the leaves and sprayed with Neem for days... They are coming back green.. I'm guessing spider mites and maby even broad mites.. either way, those leaves are not going to recover and probably need to be removed.
Joyce, I wad afraid to mention broadmites. Those critters are so tough and persistent on damaging our plants. I'm glad to learn that Neem oil works. Thank you.
Kim
That doesn't look like broadmite damage. The times mine have had broadmites, the new growth is distorted, very thick and very distinctive. What passes for leaves are pale, but not splotchy. My guess would be spidermites.
In a thread I started in last month, Brugie suggested a hot water bath: 115ºF for 15 to 20 minutes for cuttings. That would mean having to take the cutting out of the pot, though, and that might be too drastic. The good thing about using Neem is that bugs don't develop resistance to it. It works by smothering the pests so be sure that you cover all surfaces. That's why ZZ recommended removing most of the leaves. It's easier to get all of the smaller leaves. You need to use it at least twice, about a week apart to get any new hatchlings. I like Brugie's recommendation for any new acquisition.
Thank you all for the info..Im going to strip leaves and spray with neem...crossing my fingers here...Judy
Judy, it doesn't look to be a pest problem. I think some plants are just pickier than others. I have a couple of plants every year than get bad leaves. I think it's a combo of light, soil and nutrients. Some are just a bit pickier than others.
I have done as ZZ (picking the leaves off) but didn't spray for bugs since It didn't appear to be a pest problem. The leaves grew back properly without problems.
Peanut seems to be the one always doing this to me.
