When they were shooting the film " Zena Warrior Princess " here in NZ the C's would drown out the dialogue, so they had fire trucks standing by with high pressure hoses to give them agood soaking. They would stay quiet for about the length of a take. I found that quite interesting [chuckle]. Then I found your thread this morning so I had someone to tell

Hi Lesley, thanks for sharing that story ! It may come in handy in about 8 years. I know exactly what you're talking about. 1999 we had the 17 year cicadas come up and the noise actually gave me a headache ! Back then I worked part time so I didn't have to tolerate it the whole day, but I remember on weekends I could hardly wait for night to come so they'd shut up ! We live in the woods so there were thousands and thousands of them. Next time I'll get out the hose and see if that helps ! Maybe they won't even care though since I won't have the high pressure fire hose.

So your cicadas are starting to rev up now? Lucky you. We have another 5-6 months until ours start. I like to hear a few singing, like you, it makes it feel summery. I guess that's why I'm posting summery pics now. I try to keep warm by looking at summer pics. LOL !
