Spice Bush? anyone have one?
Scroll down to Lindera. It will grow. Prefers well drained but moist soil. Found near stream beds in the Edwards Plateau.

Hopefully I'll have your lady in red and ironweed seeds in the mail today. Something always keeps getting in my way. I've brought my seed bags to the office so that I can do it. I'm sure I've got the right ironweed. The only other one I have is the woolley ironweed and I didn't harvest any seeds on it. I aslo can't find my pararie larkspur. I had some in my big bag but can't seem to find them. I have a bab of larkspur seeds but had they been the one you wanted I would have labeled them so.The spicebush is a larvae host to a couple of butterflies. I bought a couple from the natives of texas nursery between Kerrville and Medina in case you are wanting one.

Hello Nada....haven't talked to you in a while! Hope all is goin' wel!!
Are you comin' to the RU in April? Lee
lee,
don't know. The native plant sale that I try to participate in every year is the 5th of april. I'm not even sure I can do that. My life went to h***** in a hand basket for the last 6 months. L O N G story. On a completely different track.... Tuesday I'm having total knee replacement of my right knee. So I will probably have loads of time to "talk" plants but I'm not sure how much "doing", I'm going to be able to do. I'm not even due back to work until the Monday after the RU.
Oh bless ya Lynne!! Dad-gummt the ole knee gag!
Will keep your knee in my prayers, and hope it goes smoothly!!

Me too Nada, I hope all goes well and things get better.
Josephine.
Be praying you recover without difficulty and get back to your normal routine. Keep in touch with everyone.
Man O' Man.....sorry to hear that,....we'll be thinkin' & prayin' for ya Nada. We'll look forward to the next one....and we'll miss ya! Look forward to talkin' plants & such with you here! 'til later, Lee
Nada, I have 3 Spicebush plants! I got them from Natives of Texas near Kerrville, so they acclimated to the Hill Country. They've done fine (I water them), except they haven't grown that much. The Spicebush caterpillars are WAY cute! Take it easy after the surgery and don't do anything beyond what the doctors recommend!
I've had two Spicebushes since fall '06... Both in full sun most of the day, and protected from the evening sun by a wood fence on their west. The one with a tad more shade grows the biggest. Maybe because the soil retains water better in that spot.
Hopefully this will be my year for SBST Linda! :-). I really enjoyed yours last year.
I have one that Deb gave me, but I planted it at the Fielder house butterfly garden, this will be its first year there, we shall see how it does, although I think it should do great. Thank you Deb!.
Josephine.
You're welcome Josephine.. I am so glad it will be at Fielder.. I love that place!
