Pictures in email

Some emails I receive have pictures and I'm assuming since I'm on dial up they are difficult to open. Here is what some of them have image0011.gif and then on down in a column they are image0022jpg. and other numbers for as many pictures as there are in the email. When I click on the image0011.gif the paint box pro window comes up. My trial has expired and I have the oportunity to renew. The next numbers I can open one at a time but they are just pics; not in the email message.

My question is should I renew my paint box pro to get pictures and is it worth the price? Will it help when I am able to find a broadband service?
