seizure in dogs

Danielsville, GA(Zone 7b)

I hope I can have some input on seizures with dogs, especially older dogs. Our weimaraner will be fourteen years old on march 22nd.She has been having seizures for almost one year, and they happen every two weeks, or there abouts. The treatment the vet sent with us was to release a suringe of vallium annaly, and it will settle them.I did that once, and it was so pitiful watching her try to stand up, and try to walk.I feel she gets along better with nothing, and assure them that you are there, and it will be over after 5-6 minuets. However it takes an hour for her to get oriented, once she has had the seizure.Heather is 80#, and it is quite a problem for us to handle her, so we just watch her to keep her from getting hurt, and let it wane.Should anyone have a preventive for this, I would love to hear.Thank you Mike
