Here's the thread with her pic, etc... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/809696/
Luna is a complete lunatic and I need some information/advise. She is VERY smart and VERY high energy. I work during the day and make the 45 min. round trip home @ lunch to check on her, let her outside and play with her for a few minutes. She doesn't do much destruction from morning until lunch, but I don't think there's anything she hasn't done between lunch and when I get home @ 5:30. It seems the higher and farther back I move "stuff" the more determined she is to figure out a way to get to it. Papers, bags of potatoes, bananas on the counter, bottle of pancake syrup...the list goes on and on. It seems more like play rather than separation anxiety.
With her being this high energy, how do you all think she would do in a crate? I'm sure she's never been in one and I just don't know what she'd do, but I'm willing to go to the expense of buying one to try out. I'm afraid she's going to do something to hurt herself with all the jumping and climbing she's doing.
Another thing I'm agonizing over is that while I'm fostering her, she is still up for adoption.
The lady at the Animal Shelter called me yesterday with someone who might be interested in her and I told her to make sure the person knew that she was a very high energy pup. She put the lady on the phone with me and she asked "what do you mean high energy" and I told her that she would need to either crate her or make sure what ever room she was in while they were away was completely "baby proof + some"....needless to say, I don't think this is what the woman was looking for because she said "I'll have to think about it" and hung up. I called the AS back and asked her if it was alright to be completely forthcoming to people regarding her behavior and she said yes, better that they know up front what they're getting into. I'm afraid that someone may think they can handle her and then be mean to her because of the way she acts and if she destroys something. I don't think she's for the 1st time dog owner for sure.
Anyway, I guess I just need some opinions and to talk about it a little. I don't think I'm going to be a very good foster mom...I'm already thinking about adopting her, just so I know she has someone with a high tolerance of mischief, she's even beginning to wear me down a little and it hasn't even been a week.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions, opinions and advise :-)
Vicki
