Hi All,
I have these cuttings that I started from flowerjunkie at the end of last year. Probably should have waited. Now they are getting almost too large to be under my lights. If I take them out from under the lights what will happen. We live in the woods, so there is not a lot of available sunlight coming in even in winter when the trees are bare. They have a such a good start I hate to mess with it, but in another week or so they will be touching the lights that are at the highest level they can go.
Thanks,
Juanita
Now what?? Cutting Question
If I had plants that looked as good as they do I sure would do anything I could to keep them going. Shop lights are pretty cheap at Walmart, can you rig something up for them. I have hung lights over the top of a book case and put plants on top before.
Those cuttings have really taken off. I have brackets in the wall where I can raise or lower my shoplights with a chain. Hope you can figure out something. Spring should be coming along soon. Good luck.

That is the same problem I'm having with some seedlings! In the past, I have resorted to hauling them out during the day and in at night.. No direct sun though.. they need to be introduced to that slowly.
Our night time temps look like they are gonna stay above freezing, so some have had to go on the front porch and stay out.. I'm just hoping all stays like it is..
Good Luck with your beauties! You have some great looking plants there!
Light, light source for these babiez are so important, I can stress it enough. I've lost about a dozen named cuttings over the winter in my makeshift greenhouse due to lack of light. Couple of days ago, I was able to rescue one of my established cutting that just flopped over. I took it closer to the light source. Propped those new growths up with support. And it didn't take no time for the thing to stood back erect and firmed up. Whew!!!
Thanks folks. I can take out a shelf in one of my light carts and that should give me another foot or so. I'll see what I can do. Still at least 2 months until they can go out here.
I'll go back to lurking now.... :0)

Do you all cut off the larger leaves as they grow? I saw that someone recomended doing that.
Flowerjunkie sure did have some great cuttings!

Those are beautiful cuttings. I rely on my east and west windows. Probably not enough light, but they are growing like mad. When I put them back in the garage I will have to use the shoplights.
You are going to have beautiful brugs.
Marie
Thanks Marie,
I think I have it figured out how to keep the lights on them and gain some head room. Just need an extra pair of hands to make it work. Will try to enlist DH's help later today. I can't wait for Spring to see what these guys are going to do. So many ways for it all to go wrong!

I do take all the large leaves off during the winter months, just easier to take care of them, and they are not so crowded, I don't feel that it hurts the plant at all, and gives more energy to the smaller leaves.

Doris,
Thanks for your confirmation...
