I've lived here in the PNW all my life, and I really can't remember a Fall and Winter as strange as this one has been. Snow and rain off and on with no drying out period. We still have lots of snow here in S.E. WA., and I'm beginning to think it will be July before everything dries out enough for me to get seeds in the ground! A glance at the ten-day weather forecast shows no end in sight for the wet pattern. Thought I saw a UFO the other morning...turned out to be the Sun!
Anyone else tired of this soggy Winter?
Wierd Weather!
You're getting wet and gray-in Dayton? That IS weird. Aren't you supposed to be dry and cold and snowy-and sunny?
I'm freezing today and haven't warmed up. So far I think the weather hasn't been too bad for me. I am on the edge of the Squim rainshadow. It been cold but not too terribaly wet. But today I'm just cold. Maybe wheelbarrowing some muck will solve that. My husband is on the glass is empty not a single drop left Mr. I think this is the worst winter in the hold world. Its never never never going to get over. I finally sent him out to work so I don't have to listen to Mr. downer any more. It will pass and pretty soon we will be complaining how hot it is.
Yes, I agree very weird weather....you will NEVER hear me complain about heat...lol....only cold!
Boy you said a MOUTHFUL cattledogs, the poor people in Detroit and Idanha are suffering from the worst snow fall in history. They're asking for emergency help from the Gov. Idanha has 7 1/2 ft and Detroit has 12 1/2 ft. I've lived in OR for 49 yrs and I've never seen weather like this. We only have about 6 or 7 inches in town and you should hear the people complain. DH and I are so SICK of the people that moved here during the summer months when it was nice and warm that are #%$%^^&%$ about the little bit of snow. I say go to Detroit or Idanha then come back to Bend and see how GOOD THEY'VE GOT IT!

I forgot to mention that about 3 weeks ago Walla Walla, WA, about 30 miles west of here, endured a wind storm of hurricane force. Trees and power lines down all over the place. It effectively shut down the entire city. We've had winds, but never like that. Our ground is so saturated that it wouldn't take much of a wind storm to down more trees. I dunno...I just want it to dry out and be Spring!
I'm not complaining. I have been outside working everyday this year. Snow wind rain I'm out there and my DH he hates it worse than me. I know we don't have it very bad and where I live we don't really have rivers to flood and the power goes out but thats it we have lost some trees to wind but not bad. I don't think I said a mouthful. Heidi
Heidi, what I meant was about complaining about the heat in the summer! LOL! Seems like we're NEVER HAPPY! LOL!

I have live here for 20+ years and I have seen some really bad winter storms, but then they go away but this year it just wont go. its snowing here now, and the news said high winds and rain no snow Da I think I know when I see it
tilly, yeah we had high winds last night. I don't mind them during the day TOO MUCH but at night it bothers me as I can't see what our trees are doing. We had a beautiful Elm tree that I planted break off in a wind storm one time. I was on the phone with DH and when it fell the top of it just brushed up against the dining room window DH asked "what was that"? I told him that the tree just broke off and is laying up against the house, he said "do I need to come home"? I told him , "no, there isn't anything you can do now the tree is already down". I'm just glad it was during the day, we have larger trees than that, that's why I don't like wind at night.
As for what they forecast, nine times out of ten, DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT! LOL!

Ain't that the truth, I don't like the wind at all. I know the feeling when a tree comes down, at the wrong times, I live in the woods so I don't have to worry about people seeing anything in the house my blinds are always open, I was in the bathroom door open, blinds in bedroom open doing a nature call, when a big Alder came down the branches brush the big bay windows in the bedroom, about scared the like out of me, among a few other things. At least thank god it didn't hit the house.
I don't like being outside when the wind is blowing, TOOOO many trees.
I don't like the wind because I CAN see what the trees are doing. We lost power on Wed night and have had high winds for the past two nights. I'm hoping that it's a little calmer tonight.
The good thing is that there has been so much wind in the last couple of years, the trees are out of vulnerable limbs. There's a little less limb shedding to deal with.
