We are starting them indoors to jump start this spring.
Just thought I would share

Best days to plant - Feburary 2008
Thank you!!
dovey, I'm going to put out strawberry plants and beans this weekend. If they don't grow, I'm coming after you...
;}
*LOL*
And I shall bravely hold my 2008 edition of The Old farmer's Almanac up as a shield, strike my best Supper Hero of the garden pose and watch you wilt like a tender annual during a Texas heat-wave!

buwhahahaha! Am I safe in lumping flowers with "above ground crops"?
yep... flowers are above ground crops.
When it comes to root crops, carrots - onions etc... I'm not sure where flowering bulbs would fall.
For February 2008 - Root crops should be planted on the 26th & 27th of the month.
In perusing my OFA - I noticed they say that Feb. 20th is a "Full Snow Moon" - can you help me understand what that means??
The Snow moon or Wolf moon (January) relate more to history and tradition than to gardening benefits.
A full moon in February is called the Snow Moon
• Full Snow Moon - February
Since the heaviest snow usually falls during this month, native tribes of the north and east most often called February's full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult

Ah - thank you!!!!
My pleasure.
I noticed that this month's full moon is also a total eclipse as well.
I saw that too - an interesting month!
The strawberries are holding their own so far. I planted them in a bed with marigolds, pole beans, and morning glories (all seeds) and am keeping my fingers crossed...
Glad to hear your strawberries are doing well.
We ended up planting a bunch of seeds yesterday.
Mostly tomatoes and peppers, it's really too early for anything else.
I wish I had remembered to plant some rose seeds yesterday, I have never been able to get a rose seed to sprout.
Maybe I'll try one of the 2nd best days this month and do the rest in March's best days.
I've got my fingers crossed too.
dovey and/or brigidlily - I'm going to be lazy and ask if you have a list of the March dates yet? I know, I know, I could look 'em up myself :-P
oh shoot...
let me look and see, I'll get back to you k?
I should do my own homework this month :-P I'll go see what I can find and post it here for y'all to review.
