Vixen does it again

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

For the third time this winter Vixen has given me a flush. I am always talking about how different a color Vixen is but I was never able to capture that color until now. I placed her on the table under my umbrella and the pure salmon color seems to shine out with vivid reality. This is truly what she looks like and why I so love her in my sea of pink brugs.

Here are a few seed pods from her last flush....she is a fertile myrtle :}

Wow that is stunning ........wooohoo!!!

Beautiful!!! What crosses did you make or was this the moths at work? I don't see any labels.

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

I crossed her with Kleine Lady, Pink Smitty, Jewel, Sam, DayDreams. I don't allow any moth or bee pollinated pods to mature on my brugs. It saps up too much energy for the plant. I would rather her put all of her energy into forming larger pods on the crosses that I intentionally make.

wow id love to try some of your seeds.........lol

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

When I pollinate I put the name (or initials) of the pollen parent directly on the stem of the pod. Here I hit this bloom with
New Orleans Lady (NOL) and the back bloom has Pink Smitty (PS) pollen on her.
Seeds are how I finance my addiction. Good ebay sales keep me a float for one more season.....I hope

What a great photo -really showing off those orange hues! I recently got Vixen but she hasn't set any buds yet. Thanks for those pics!

Is that sharpie marker on the stem? I was wondering if you had any prob with fading etc.?
~I sure would love to get rid of all my flagging tape, tags etc. for marking crosses. Your way seems so much better plus no tags to lose...

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Yes I do use a sharpie. Occasionally I may have to do a touch up but for the most part the markings last as long as the pod does. Even if the ink fades the markings get scored into the stem and are always identifiable.
