I received some of the Brad's White rooted cuttings last summer. They are in the greenhouse waiting for warm weather and some still have leaves. I would like to send one to my sister to give her a head start this year. Is it safe to pull the tree, clean off the roots, and mail it to her, say in May? (She's in Oregon)
I'm just wondering if disturbing it when it will have started growing here will damage it in some way.
Thanks for your advice.

Pulling up rooted cuttings from last year?
The better time would be before it breaks dormancy but that may be too soon to ship to the colder parts of the country.
I do ship plumeria year round. When they are actively growing I will usually put moist sphagnum moss or paper towels around the roots and then place the rootball in a plastic bag. That ensures the roots stay moist until it gets planted again. It will set the plant back a little but not really that much.
Thanks Hetty! I'm sending her some cuttings from the co-op, too, but this was an afterthought. She's always loved plumeria but thought she could not grow them there. I think it's worth a try, as she has a beautiful orchid collection and has a real green thumb. :-)
