What do you think of this combo?

I'm thinking of planting an area with a mix of these. Growing them all from seed this spring.

Those are the main plants with a few of both of these thrown in.

Think it will be over kill color wise? If everything is in bloom I'll need sun glasses to look at it. LOL.

LOL...please...overkill colorwise? I think they would look cool. I don't know if the ipomea you have will be purple or light pink (there were different colors in the plantfiles pics), which color? I think the purple would look best....and dark foliage somewhere in the mix would really highlight those blooms

My main tropical bed is such an unplanned mess of blooms and variegation, it looks like a zebra and some leopards got into a fight with a bunch of spray paint or something. can't get tacky enough...lol

Gaud(y) is good.

I hope you can get the caesalpinia to bloom for you I have one that has been very stubborn. It has never been cut back however and I have just learned that it should be cut back to the ground each spring. Maybe that will do the trick for me.

The MG bush looks like this. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/783831/
That's who I got the seeds from.

Didn't know that about caesalpinia. I'll file that info away.

Lazlo is so generous. Those are pretty, more pastel, you might find that you want something bolder purple against the orange (not that I'm the perfect landscaper), I bet ruellia grows like mad there.

I'm trying to think of other deep purple tropicals and I'm kind of having trouble...barleria is sort of medium

I also have Kniola's black MG's. I could put a couple of little posts for them to climb. They don't get very big for MG's. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/51629/, those are dark. Part of the problem with those is they don't stand out at all. With all the color behind them they may stand out.

For that matter I could put these in there on posts. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/63662/
Those may get to big, I have seeds but have never grown them.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Kniolas would look cool. I have some kind of wild mg I need to look up with small orange flowers, they would go nicely, too. if you want to try I have seeds. Since I'm giving you more opinion than you wanted, I think fuschia is a must-have in most bright arrangements (I hate pink everywhere but the garden), some of those bright pink-purple heirloom stlye (sort of like Kniola but pinker) MGs would be nice (again I have seeds)

OOOh..now those dutchman pipes are cool. been wanting to try those, where'd you get seeds

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

Small orange wild MG? I'm betting it's not a MG.

The dutchman pipes were from a trade.

I also have these Mg's, problem there is they change color all day long. They start off blue then change to this color at night. Hummers love them.
