I wanted to throw out this question to everyone to see who might be interested in hosting one in the Spring. I'm hoping that someone in DC or close to it will be interested in hosting.
If things go according to plan, my home may be a construction zone this Spring, but if the permit people continue to give us a hard time, well ... it may be years till we get our remodeling project off the ground!
So, anyone interested in hosting? Perhaps we can put together more than one swap to accommodate people in different locations? ... just putting feelers out ...
Spring Swap Location(s)?
You aren't directing that at me, are you now?
Snort. Heh ... It's not *all* about *you*, HappyPantz!
You are so wright. I'm lying low on this one.
I have a husband, 2 kids and 2 dogs... My house is not huge and I probably live really far out, but if no one else wants to do it I will. I cannot do it the weekend of April 18th though....

I tried last year to find someone close to DC to host and came up empty. The other option was renting a picnic shelter at one of the parks, but that was fairly costly unless you head back out this way again.
It would be an ideal location if easily accessible from 81/66 and 95 for probably most of our members.
I think in DC would mean some wouldn't come. Frankly, I just don't fight DC traffic for any reason any more and I can see me trying to get on the Metro with boxes of plants. LOL
I'm planning on having one at the house in VA. It's on the eastern shore so probably a good little hike from DC. I'm an hour south of Salisbury, MD and about an hour north of the VA Chesapeak bridge/tunnel.
I'm glad you posted this. I've been meaning to start at thread but just haven't taken the time to when I'm on here. I've already got a handful of folks that said they would come. There is plenty of room, 3 acres to roam, etc. The only "downfall" is that everything that is planted has only been planted since 06 so the yardens are still young and still need tons of work.
I hope more folks will host as well. As mentioned, different locations would be great. I always want to go to them but the last 2 years they have just seemed to be too far, or a weekend that I couldn't make it. Thats why I decided to just have one here this year ;)
I'm really looking forward to it, seeing old friends and meeting new ones :)
Hope ya'll will join us!
Thanks for the "nudge". I'll start a thread when I get back from my trip around 2/16.
I think it's great if there can be swaps in different locations.
I'd be happy to have one at my house - it is smaller - but, I am sure we can accommodate quite a few of us :-) There are several great nurseries in Woodbridge - and I'd gladly open my house to anyone who wants to come!
YeeHah! I like the idea of multiple swaps as well.
Hmm. I would consider it some time but I can't do it this Spring. We have too much on the books and since I am a weekend gardener, I have slated some time for raindates to get things done outside. My house is a small saltbox Cape Cod that gets cramped with more than 5 adults. It's better to have a garden party outside. It's nice out in the backyard, provided the weather is, too!!
Folks will also be gathering for an RU at Darius' new "homestead" somewhere around the 2nd week in June, http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/807189/.
Good idea to look for a DC location... I'm always up for a gathering, but I know I'm a bit far north for some folks, so it's good to move things around or have several different events!
