spring IS the best time to plant palmettos right??
palmetto???
I notice they plant them anytime around here but It is my understanding they do best when the soil has warmed up. The heat seems to stimulate the growth of new roots then.
Pretty much this is the best time of year to plant anything right now. We have such mild weather that there really isn't a bad time to plant. I would say mid summer because of the heat but the low country turns into one big green house so given enough water even mid summer isn't a bad time.
If you live up north where the ground freezes by December that's a totally different situation.
mmk. thanks we had 4 palmettos+2 washingtonias installed last feb. and 2 are dead now.... we can wait
