CANNA Co-op for the Hummingbirds!?!

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Did you all know there is a Canna co-op going on now?

The hummingbirds love the cannas and they are easy to grow if you have the space and the sunshine and the water for them!

Just thought I'd spread the word!

Do deer like Cannas? I need something red the deer and bunnies won't eat at my cabin.

A bit of googling puts cannas on the 'deer resistant' lists...one never knows, though, do they!?

And here's a DG thread that discusses deer/cannas FYI http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/802385/

Thanks, Tabasco-actually, I think the cannas would go great where I'm thinking of. It's pretty much full sun and the ground is peat so it retains some moisture even when it's really hot and dry (but I haven't had problems with plants getting waterlogged, either-go figure . . .). And, it's right next to where I put my hummingbird feeders. The deer get in there, but they really seem to like the hostas so there is other food for them (grrr . . .). The cannas are probably safe from the bunnies-we'll see! I'm coming up with quite a plant list for spring!
Thanks again!

Sounds like a good place for them. And you can report back about the deer and whether they liked yours.

I planted a few canna bulbs a couple of years ago and the deer overlooked them and went for the daylilies and other stuff, now that I think of it.

(We had quite a deer problem for a couple of years then the Park Rangers had a series of 'controlled shoots' in our woods...)

Good luck with the cannas. t.
