Anyone have catnip

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Does any one have catnip seeds? I'm making a little memoria in the woods for my daughter's kitten who died. I wanted to put wildflowers, etc out there and someone mentioned catnip. That would be good, just can't find any seed

Hi Lorraine
What a precious idea,
I have catnip...would love to trade for some of your Cockscomb (Cristata Group)
Celosia argentea var. cristata 'Burgundy Supercrest' seeds...please let me know.

Kind of like leaving scotch on Jim Morris's grave. LOL. Sorry if in bad taste.

This is true, lol. Figure it will have something pretty there and the other cats will go to visit him. Course any cat in a hundred miles will visit.

I hardly dare to say (that annoying streak of me again): I have two kinds of catnip for you: N. nuda and N. subsessilis....

Lorraine, I also just received some NOID Catnip and could include in Cat's butterfly swap for you, or Tuink could do the same as she has the specific species. KD

Aww, sorry to hear about your daughter's kitten. It looks like you might be covered, but I just bagged some catnip seed I collected last fall (plants have been coming back and/or reseeding for a couple of years now, just generic catnip but the kitties like it.) I can send you a good 1/4 tsp for SASBE (they're little seeds), and that would give you lots to sprinkle around. LMK.

Lorrain, now that you have all this catnip coming in how about a replacement kitty, I have 9 new borns.

Here's a pic of some of them.

Good one CoreHH

MO to TX is a long trip for a little kitten...

Such a precious photo! 9 is a big litter. Looks like they've got a sweet auntie (?) cat in there to help with the lickin' and the lovin'. :-)

Actually that is 2 mommas there and I also have a 3rd momma in another room. each has three kittens to take care of. The third cat had her kittens in that box too, it started to get crowded so we had to separate them.

I would never shipe a kitten anywhere. Just thought it might be a good idea to replace it.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

*whew* I'd never heard of 9 kittens in a litter... but I sure don't know everything there is to know about kittens!

I was teasing about shipping the kitten. You usually don't have far to look to find a little one needing a home.

Those momma came from a litter of 10 with no 2 alike. Their momma was a gray stripped tabby mix and their daddy was seal point siamese. These babies daddy is a chocolate point siames, so they are 3/4. The other batch of kitties all turned out gray smokey looking. Amost like an Austrailian shepard color.

I just think if you lose one another will help to get over it, especially for kids.

I know you were kidding.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Ooh, they're going to be so purty when they get their colors! It's probably just as well MO isn't right next to MD on the map... LOL

If they start sowing catnip through the woods, I think another kitty might just find them.

I hope so, as long as it's owners don't mind and if a stray happens to show up and stay I think that would be great.

That's my worst nightmare!!!! A litter of kittens! We live in the country but lots of houses around so this is the popular place to dump kittens if you don't want them. Of course, I'm duty bound to try and save them from the cold scary world.
I just brought 2 more into our happy little cat family. I kept saying I can't keep these cats, got more than I can take care of now!!
Then when I thought about taking them to the shelter and them being put down and they looked at me with those cat eyes, I brought them in.
I'm such a push over. Maybe I should just give them the house, go and dump myself and see if someone will take me in

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

LOL. Somebody would take you in!

Well, if you do decide you need some extra catnip seed, just Dmail me. :-)

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

If you need more catnip and can wait until spring/summer I can send you a boat load for shipping. Plants though, not seeds.
I got a lil over zealous with some I found planted on the property and well, it kind of took over haha.

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll sure let you know if mine doesn't take off. I was walking around with a package someone had sent me and couldn't figure out why my cat was going crazy!! Then realized I was holding catnip seed.
It probably won't ever be able to come up, because the cats will grab it as it comes up
I wonder if Bobcats like Catnip. We have one running around out here, so I may just bring him around with it!!

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ohh, if it works, take lots of pictures lol.

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

I can see me now, trying to get the bobcat to pose! lol I've seen him out there once. I was out in the woods raking up rotted leaves and stuff and I saw movement and then saw eyes. I knew it wasn't a cat, then I remembered there was one out there.
I got really still and in a minute or two, it just walked on off. Needless to say, I take the dog with me now. Warning bark, you know.
