Can anyone explain the simplest way to start an Epiphyllum cutting?

I just cut off a leaf and put it into a potting soil after a couple of days of drying. Water and that's about it.

Haven't lost a plant yet, but maybe I've just been lucky.

when you root these, do you stand them up, or lay them on their sides?

I'm not a very good person to ask, but I'm pretty sure you plant them about an inch in some growing medium. Thats what I've read from other usefull sites.

one thing I learned....there definitely is an "up & down" on these guys....put one cutting in upside down & it sent out two limbs growing downward & died....the two limbs are laying on the soil after I righted them and I'm hoping they are rooting....goofy that I didn't see it when I planted it....Deb

I understand that there are two different types of 'Epi' fertilizers to use, and I'm assuming that both fertilizers are a 10-10-10 ratio and a 8-10-10 ratio. Can someone please inform me of what ratio I should be using first?

Thanks much~!!
