Share your yard!

Newbury Park, CA(Zone 10a)

I love to look at peoples landscapes, share your landscape pictures front or back! This was my yard in September of 07, not much green right now lol.

Goodness that looks like an ad for lawn care......... how NEAT!!!
My yard is a jungle-in-the-making .... I'll catch a shot later and share it.

Newbury Park, CA(Zone 10a)

Jungle? I'd love to see that, I'm assuming you've gone tropical then?

GONE tropical? I AM tropical LOL

Red Oak, TX

This is my front yard, going through transformation from the regular waxleaf and potenia shrubs to a more tropical look (work in progress).
I have shown these pictures before. They are the only ones that I have of the front yard. I hardly work out there.

Rita, you've got lots of room in that back yard for plenty of island beds and flat-rock walkways. No need for grass. . . : - )

Oh what a lot of plumie space LOL
My entire yard is measured in how many plumeria plants I can fit, and any plants have to promise to get along with the plumeria or they go. There are a few exceptions. There is a space for the big mango tree and space underneath for the fruit to fall .....and we have a giant Traveler's palm in the front which dominates that particular corner.
DH and I are just in the process of planting and mulching so I will post pictures after we're done.

Posting after LariAnn: no need for grass indeed!!

doing homework... will post pics when done

Red Oak, TX

mustangman826, I forgot to include that your house and yard are absolutely perfect. I especially like the palms on the right side of the yard, very beautiful, my compliments to the gardener.

LariAnn, I was told not to make any more flowerbeds, but I never do as I am told. Your idea sounds good.

Dutchlady1, I have a few big plumerias given to me by my friend, texasbigleaves, that I plant in the ground every spring, then dig up in the late fall. My DH hates to have to mow around them.

Another good reason to minimize the grass...... LOL
I have been 'nibbling' at the grass for years (rabbit images coming to mind here). I just gently edged closer and closer, enlarging the beds by inches every time. This year (with the water restrictions) we have gone all out and there is just a token strip of grass remaining at the front of the property (essentially the city easement). I bet your DH would be happy not to have to mow anymore, I know mine is!

Newbury Park, CA(Zone 10a)

Placenciarita, beautiful front yard, I love the bananas! Who told you not to make flower beds? Better than having big ole greenhouses like I do! I've got mud and greenhouses haha.

Red Oak, TX

My husband told me that I was too old to dig holes and move rocks. What are you growing in those greenhouses?

Newbury Park, CA(Zone 10a)

Well don't tell the officials, but...haha just kidding. I actually grow a lot of tropicals (mainly palms) from seed into liners and up to 5 gallon containers. I have probably twenty or thirty different varieties that I grow. I sell most of this inventory to my wifes grandparents wholesale nursery in Forest Hill, Louisiana.

this is our yard as of last may... this february, it will be a year old. it will look much different this summer due to all of my winter gardening.
