I have very rich deep soil, but it's very alkaline. So I'm wondering if callas will survive here.
Does anybody in 8a grow callas?
I have tried them but they dont always come back for me here.
According to Bleek they are supposed to grow in our zone, but I've been reading on a coop thread about callas, and Mamajack is the only one in Tx (I think). That gives me pause.:)
I have some of those Bleek Callas - but I am growing them indoors and will take them in and out.
I'd like to try them inside, but I don't think they would get enough sun in my house. What do you use for fertilizer? How much sun do yours get?
I have them under shop lights and they will move outside when the weather stays around 40 at least. I use Kelp on them... but I am tempted to try the mix over on the Brug forum. Beer, Tea Tree Oil, Kelp, and a few more things... if it makes the Burgs shoot up then why not everything else?
Yes I've been reading that too. It's very interesting. I guess it would be good on plumeria also, yes? I'm wondering, though, if you make more than you can use in a day, how long does it keep? I think an aquarium pump in the bucket would be a good idea. I think we still have one. In fact I think we still have the aquarium too. Maybe I'll just make it up in that. It's a ten gallon.
Yep I mix up a big batch and use it when the spirit moves me and keep the rest saved up.
Which recipe did you use?
This one more or less...
2 cups water
1 12 oz can of beer
1/2 cup household ammonia
1 cup Epsom salt
12 drops Tea Tree oil
1/4 cup unsulphured molasses
1/4 cup liquid seaweed (Kelp)
That looks like a good recipe, but they say tea oil is not good for cats and I have 3. But why would it not be good for cats? It seems like it would just repell them.
Dont know... and I have no idea why it works but I know on my brugs it works...
I'll definitely have to try it. Thanks.
