She has not worked in a while. She twisted her foot or something, fell and broke her shoulder. Can you imagine Linda being laid up? I bet she is a basket case. I would not have know if I had not called her.
Anybody missing Smockette?
I was wondering where she was! Please tell her our thoughts & prayers are with her.
If she is laid up......then she should be on DG more!!!
(((((Smockette!!!!!!)))) Put that chocolate bon bon and mojito down and talk to your friends on the forums!!
Seriously...hope you mend quickly and are able to make it to the early getogethers around TX. I know your parents are up here, if there is anything I can help them with while you are down, let me know please.
Sheila_FW
I have been wondering - the trees she gave to the school are so big everytime I walk by the walkway with the five and six foot tall trees there I think about her. Let her know anything she needs just to let me know and I will get them out there or work on it for her.
Yes I had wondered about her, I am so sorry Linda, I hope you get well soon, and please don't stay away, you are a lovely person.
Josephine.
Thanks for the "heads-up".
Smockette - if you are on-line - let us know how you're doing. And if there is anything we DG'ers can do to help.
Smockette - I was wondering where you were! We miss you and hope all is well. Can't wait to 'see' your smiling face back here.
Smockette, thought you were just in winter hibernation. I sure hope you're up and about soon.
As your newest gardening friend, I can relate, had foot surgery Dec. 19th, so get back on board, you are obviously missed!
If she broke her shoulder....she'd have a bit of a problem typing to us all...maybe we should inundate her with get well cards!
Smockette...where are you!!! We miss you! Maybe we could chip in for a helper monkey!
I hope she didn't have another accident on the motor cycle.
Thanks for the news! I, too, hope Smockette is OK and can return to us soon.
Welcome CHOOD!
Ohhh... I'm so sorry, Smockette! Heal up fast. Thanks for letting us know, Sylvia!
Oh, Smockette!. So sorry you're laid up, but get some rest for me, hear?
Sylvia, who did you hear that from? It would be nice to find out for sure. Are there any DGer's living near her? Seems like she lives in Magnolia or something like that.
Wayne and I were just talking about her and wondering how she was last weekend.
Hope you heal quickly Smockette, and are back out in that garden soon!
Well, dern it girl! I've been wondering where you've been and missing your smiling posts. Especially when we started talking about the CS RU and you weren't in on the conversations. I was really worried. Please take care of yourself and check in here if you can. Gee - you can't move to do anything without moving your shoulder. That's a real bummer.
I'm not too far from Magnolia right now for at least another month. Let me know if you need a garden helper or any kind of helper, ok?
Anyone have Smockette's snail mail address?
It's in the "extras"...I sent her a card this morning. Thanks for letting us know Sylvia. Hopes she's better.
That's our Bubbles! I'll get a card out tomorrow.
Broken shoulder! what an awful thing to happen, am so sorry to hear this...take good care, be sure to eat well, so the bone heals....
Melva
Does anybody remember what nursery supplier she works for? I know she told us, but I can't remember. Maybe DMJ knows?
Treesearch Farms
We need to call her!
In the first thread Sylvia said she called her. Hopefully she will give her another call and tell her she is missed!
I bet with injuries she is on drugs and could care less about getting on the computer and doing hunt and peck with one hand! She will be back when she feels better I am sure.
where does she live? we should bring her a little picnic or something
Someone said earlier that she is in the addy section under extras.
She is an accountant at TreeSearch, I'll try to call her tomorrow. She has always been one and off the forum, takes rests when its slow. I have plenty of time these days.
=)
Thanks Deb, let me know if I should start cooking something
Randy--You know anyone in Houston who wants one of these vines?
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2050/
I have a huge one (over 10 years old); I'm going to dig out so they can replace the back fence. Kind of a long story--subdivision thing (they are paying so why not) and some large hamalia patens too. I basically have a 10' wide x 60' long bed to start over with. Just what I needed to do, I need the space for other things (read between the lines here). I'm keeping the rangoon creeper--will protect that one from the fence builders.
Just to show you how strange HOA's can be in Texas sometimes....there was this guy that moved about 8 houses down on the corner 5 years ago. He raises prize winning German Shepard's (nice, quiet dogs, never any problems) and wanted to protect his investment. Well he decided the HOA could take a flying leap and constructed this 10' high fence that is half brick and half wood (hard to describe, but looks really nice--beautiful round globe lights on top of the brick pillars). I had my house built on the dirt and me and a few neighbors just sat back to see what would happen (I've never been involved with the HOA--they leave me alone because I was one of the first 5 residents of what now is about 100 house subdivision--and now have been here the longest). I'm thankful to say they looked at it and agreed it looked really good. So now they are going to build one just like it for 18 more of us whose back yards are up against this one particular road (I have no neighbors in back of me). It's nice to know common sense sometimes prevails with HOA's.
=)
sigh, dmj I should have moved to YOUR neighborhood! DOH!
was worried when I didn't hear back on my dmail smockette, I do hope you are better real soon!
Tir--you want one of those vines? When I dig it I can meet you up at Home Depot on 6 and 529. I just hate to throw it out--it will probably be easy to divide up too, the bottom of it is about 2-3' around. I'm going to move a small one up to the front. Will probably have some of these too:
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/109957/
hummers love them and they are blooming right now.
Yes, I'll take the vine...I love the coral vine...it will have a good home in my garden.
I have a 10 foot fence and I love it.
Good Randy--there's probably enough there for 3 or 4 good sized vines when divided (I'm assuming it can be divided). I think its supposed to be really cold tomorrow, so it will have to wait for weather. It stays dormant until mid to late March so it should be fine where it is for a while if need be. I need to hack a 9' by 9' Hamalia patens that freezes down to ground level every year to get back to it. That needs to be done quickly too. Have no idea when they are going to do this but they did send us legal paperwork to sign and get notorized today so I'm assuming in the next couple of months. Glad I'm working out of the house now and can be here all the timer.
Thanks dmj but I've so many potted plants yet to get in the ground and to much going on to get anything planted as of late. :( I hope you find it a rehome though! Beautiful plants!
Okay..just let me know...
If there's anything you'd like, I have lots of extra stuff hanging around the garden that I need to unload too. I'm sending a truck load of stuff to JeanneTX I'm hoping this weekend..but working OT on Sunday morning.
I'm off all the time now (or can be) so working around your schedule is not a problem for me. I work for myself now. We've got a month here.
I'm looking for some deciduous shrubs that don't have to be hacked back every year like Hamalia patens and Clerondendrum u (they freeze to ground level every year here) that will "suck up" moisture in summer so bulbs can go underneath. But that's the only thing I'm really looking for. I'm probably going to have to do some research and figure out what would be best. I've thought about Camelia's but that's the driest area of the property. So they would not be happy there. I've also got a couple of Cypress trees, a live oak, and a red oak back there that will be rather large in about 5-7 years.
Okay..I have Clero-U already potted and ready to go, as a matter of fact several..would you like more than one? they are about a foot tall. I'm on vacation starting feb 16th..the whole week..so mabe we can work out something then.
Those cypress really suck the moisture don't they?
I have a clero u--one is enough. =)
It stays pretty wet under the Cypress trees now, but time will tell. I hope it stays that way, my LA iris are on the north side of them. That week sounds good--that way it will be warm and I can dig it up, and move it quickly, you can get it in the ground ----and if we're lucky, it will never even know it got moved.
I'm not looking for a trade but I imagine you have something I'll just perish if I don't have.
