Growing in Malibu, CA near the beach; taken while in SoCal on a 2-week family trip earlier this month. Really beautiful.
What is this?
Some form of Ice plant maybe? Can't think of the proper name right yet..
gazania, no clue which flavor, there are tons.
yesss...gazania!! good one.
Whatever its name, it's beautiful. the pictures do not do it justice.
You could grow them as annuals in your area if you wanted to.
think I have too much shade; would rather grow perennials. 'course if a flat of them appeared in my local nursery, they might become a border for the herb garden, the 1 sunny spot I have.
Yes, they do need sun, the flowers don't open on cloudy days so if they were in too much shade you'd never get to enjoy them. I'm not sure if they'd reseed for you or not which would make them almost as good as perennials!
Gazania rigens. Some of them have the most beautiful coloration. They love hot sun. I suspect they'd also love planters. :)
