Hi There,
I've had this av for years & really like it but just wondered if anyone knows the name of this one? Here's the bloom
Can anyone id?
Wow! That is a Beautiful African Violet! I love the color of the bloom and those curly leaves too! I have no idea which one it is but I wouldn't do a thing to it except to take a few leaves to root for new plants!
Hopefully someone will come along soon and recognize your AV and be able to give you a correct ID.
Great Growing!
I can't help you with the ID but it's a beautiful plant.
I am not good at guessing since my first class has thousands of avs...........sorry but it is pretty!
That's a stunning bloom! I love the ruffled leaves and the edge on the bloom... I'm reminded of Optimara's "Space Violets," but if you've had it for years, I'm not sure it could have come from that series. But there's no need to know its name to enjoy it!
Your plant is a great example of why I tell people they shouldn't always worry about suckers or trying to grow their plants with just one crown. That plant is so lush, so full... it might not win a blue ribbon at a show, but it doesn't have to have a "proper" form to get a blue ribbon in my book when it looks so healthy and lovely!
From the FAQ in the "sticky" thread at the top of the forum:
Q. What is a NOID?
A. NOID stands for No Identification (NO ID) generally speaking, it means that the plant may be a cultivar but it doesn’t carry a tag with the actual name. Very hard to identify a violet without a tag due to the fact that there are so many cultivars out there. But NOID or not, they are still beautiful and often favorites even without a name tag.
Q: How can I identify my NOID AV?
A: You can't. It is not possible to make a firm identification from photographs or descriptions. There are over 20,000 registered varieties, the colors in photos can be inaccurate, and descriptions of colors (especially "blue" or "red") are pretty subjective. Many "supermarket" AV's are grown from seed rather than propagated vegetatively, so they won't have a name. While it can be fun to try to see which variety your AV "looks like," it's a good idea to use terms such as "look-alike" or "noid" on your plant labels when you didn't purchase a plant with a name tag.
Great info Critter! I had no idea there were that many registered AV's! And I also didn't know that a lot of the supermarket plants were grown from seed! Mass Market AV's ... I guess that is true with a lot of plants. I Have found out about the colors being inaccurate in photo's just from posting a few of my own photo's ... sometimes the color looks nothing like the plant in person.
I need to read the stickies at the top of forums every so often to refresh my memory with the good info found there!
Ultimateshopper: This looks like Sassy Sister, hybridized by S. Sorano.

???? I know it's hard to get a correct coloration in photo's sometimes but these all look different to me. All are beautiful though!
