Paper Whites - dropping their buds

Does anyone have any idea why some of my paperwhites are dropping their buds before they open? I even have one which did have one beautiful bloom, but all the other buds on the same stalk are just turning dry and then falling off.

It may be that your paperwhites are showing the effects of changes in temperatures, from day to nighttime, perhaps.

Or bulb drop could be a result of the paperwhites being too warm or too cold or placed in a draft.

Some say overwatering can cause bud drop, too....

Can't think of anything else, right now, but I'm sure others will have some ideas for you, too...
