Hi, Butterfly gardeners--
I heard about a Butterfly Seed Swap or Round Robin Thread going on on one of the seed trading forums and I can't seem to locate it....?
(I am not referring to the nice seed swap we had going on on this forum last fall...)
I have a few extra zinnia seeds (I got carried away with my Park's Seed order) and I may want to participate!
Any idea where the thread is?
Where is the Butterfly Seed Swap/Round Robin Thread??
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/rrtrade/all/ Here it is, if you hadnt found it already!
Thanks, kelboindy-- I would have never found it if you hadn't sent me there! There are so many threads these days and I can't keep them straight!
Looks like the Round Robin Swap forum has a lot of DGers interested in planting more butterfly and hummer plants so I hope we get lots of new posters on this forum, too!
Thanks again. t.
Oh yeah, Me too!! I hope I can draw a lot of the butterflys AND hummingbirds to my garden this year!! Im learning a lot about what kind of plants to start for them here, And I love your Journals!! Great info source!! Im working on gathering their host and nectar plant seeds. I appreciate your sharing the knowledge about them with us!!! Kelly
If I can send along to you any of my BF seeds, please d-mail me--we must have many of the same butterflies in our gardens...
Are you Wintersowing this year?
I am trying wintersowing for the first time this year, I have about 15 or 20 2 liter bottles out on the back deck. I had 6 small water bottles too, that the cats had fun knocking off, so those are gonners!LOL.
I started thinking about b-fly gardening this fall, and looking up information about them, doing a lot of learning! and found out I have a lot of plants already that they like! I had so much fun last year watching them on the huge patch of purple coneflowers, and the Sweet autumn sedum, And I have always planted Basil, Dill, and parsley. So I have started some others for them and saveing seeds too.
There are so many site links through DG helping!!
My neighbor raises honeybees so I never use any pesticides. I think that called a lot of butterflies to the yard too. And I love the hummingbirds!!! They keep me entertained off the kitchen window. They are way too fast for the cats to bother them. They dont even try!
We are close to the same zone so Ill bet we do have a lot of the same butterflies. Im going to try to take some pictures this year to identify them.
You are so kind to offer your seeds and knowledge. I cant tell you how much I appreciate that! The only seeds I can think of that I might need is possibly some more annuals like zinnias... I dont know.
