Rach....here is one of my completed winter projects and....

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

the start of another, my beds needed new covers. Remember, the whole house is western/southwest....so to try to explain...my wall colors in the house are all some tone of peach (yellow base)....so that color will be in all log cabin covers....

For the guest room upstairs...

I LOVE those colors....it makes me think of spring!

Here is the new one for the twin bed...only 22 more squares to go before quilting...lol

I wanted to try one with solids to see how it turns out without flower patterns.

These are being done on a machine, I have never done them by machine before...but I can tell you they are a lot quicker than the way I did the old ones...

Thanks so much ByndeweedBeth

Nice, Carla!!!

I have done an irish chain with the quilt in a day technique and it's amazing how much time it save you. You do have to be pretty methodical and organized of thought, tho.

I keep meaning to do a nice king sized log cabin quilt one day for myself, but haven't quite gotten around to it. Fabric selection always stops me cold. Thinking too much I guess.

I love the fabrics you've chosen.

Katie,

Thanks so much, this is a king/custom size because the mattress for this queen is so thick, you can't find a cover to fit it properly. Once I got going it was hard to quit until it was complete. Now I decided to do a twin size for the small bedroom too.
I am trying to find things to do until I can plant seeds!

Well, if you can't find anything to do until you can plant seeds, you can do a king-sized cover for me!! So beautiful is your work!

Cocoa That is just gorgeous
I love to crochet I did a navajo pattern, on a throw I made to fit a twin bed ( I have a pic of as I was working on it, but have to scan it, first find it) The colors where great Black, white, grey and red I gave it away as a gift. also love to do needle point working on a Eagle now. Not in to sewing tried to make a quilt that was a joke, LOL

My SIL does some awesome quilts - always makes them for family and friends for significant events - marriages, births. They are precious gifts.

Carla,
I love both of them, thank you so much for posting them! I have always loved quilts, growing up that is all that we had on our beds. I have one that my great grandmother made and I have collected others from garage/estate sales, antique stores and Ebay. There is something so cozy about a handmade quilt! Love them! You are so talented my friend!

Thanks sannajane...lol I probably should do my 3 grandkids first tho.

Tills, thanks so much, I crochet also but have not done so in years, would you teach me the flame stitch, I have never done that one? I have also done needlepoint, cross stitch, and embroidery. It is becoming a lost art/craft. I have also done hand stitched quilts, the one pictured above is the first on a machine and I loved how quick it went. I also have an old treddle Singer machine, maybe I should try one on that, it works perfectly and would give my legs a good workout!

Katie59, I would be interested in the "Irish Chain" pattern, especially if it can be done in a day or two...lol A great one for the grandkids...

Thanks Rach, I have one from my grandmother, 2 from John's aunt (just tops not quilted) and a couple of old ones I bought in tattered shape to make other crafts from. I just have not hade the heart to cut them up, even tho they are tattered, someday I will find a special place or project to make with them.

Carla -

Let me look around - I THINK I know where I have it. If so, I'd be happy to loan it to you.

Thanks Katie, I have done a nine patch without a machine tho...and not with blank squares in between, I like the pattern it creates.

Kingston, WA

I'm not a sewer or quilter but do get many people from around who come to Kingston for quilting stuff. Nancy Martin who I guess is a big deal in the quilters world has a great store in Kingston. I know her from the Kingston garden club. You might want to check out her store if you over here or check me out if your at her store

I must admit I love quilts, but gardening is my first love. I started quilting when I was a child and have continued to do so off and on as an adult. BUT I would much rather be in the yard than in the house.
I am definately planning trips to your place and when I come plan to help in your garden too! I love the dirt, worms, flowers, plants, rocks...etc, so you just plan on having me for the day!
