Old Time Garden Sayings and Doings
This is a Chinese proverb;
If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.
Your mind is a garden,
your thoughts are the seeds,
the harvest can be either flowers or weeds.

One is nearer to God in a garden than anywhere else on Earth

A garden is never so good as it will be next year

Always grow where you are planted
=)
Roses like bananna peels and coffee grounds, any body care to speculate why? Parents went to the great garden in the sky long ago.
Not sure about the coffee grounds although I add them to the compost pile. They like the banana peels for the potassium which helps a plant bloom.
mmm something about planting your potatoes by good Friday my grandparents always said
only other things that come to mind are rain in the morning sailer's take warning rainbow at night sailors delight LOL and that is not gardening
Wil ahve to pick my moms brain when they get here Sunday night since it was her parents that gardened LOL
coffee grounds are supposed to be for gardens because they attract earth worms. They come in and eat the coffee grounds and their poop is awsome fertilizer. Their movement through the soil also helps keep it from compacting.
And they are free--all you want, from the Starbuck's by us! =)
I found this....it's sort of like what we are talking about:

I'm hoping they'll build a Starbucks near my house in a new strip mall. The first strip mall for Fredericksburg BTW. The next closest one is in Boerne and I rarely get there.
Here's one I have bookmarked in my garden proverbs book:
He who plants a garden plants happiness.
- Chinese Proverb
And it's true . . .
