Help Dead Flash drive

my son just came home from school and said that he can not access his flash drive,
which has all his homework on it... including all his house plans created in CADD.

does anyone know of a way to access this to view what it on it, so i can get the files off?

when i plug it into the USB slot, it blinks 4 times, when it should stay lit ... then after the 4 blinks, it just goes out.
the computer does not even "see" it as a drive.


My son said when he went to the lab at school - once he plugged it in, the PC he was on locked up / froze
then he had to manually shut it off, then it rebooted and he could not access the flash drive.
