CLEMATIS at brushwood...who was it at the fall round-up that

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

had so many? let's talk clematis.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Love them - they hate me - I keep tryng and they keep dying.... shade root sun leaves, semi shade leaves, does not matter...

The FT Worth Arbor. grows so HUGE ones in full sun and the gardenr claims just water and no extra care.

i may have to go back and look up the thread post round-up to remember my names. seems like she was from denton, mitch, and she has many, many clematis. i have had mixed results. they either do really well or they do die quick. lol.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I hear ya... they are hard to get started but I love the flowers once they do.

You already figured it out....that it is Karen (rosethyme)
dmail me, which Salvias do you want to order from Robin?

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

I ordered 2 clematis from a coop. One died before I could get it planted and the other one grew about a foot after I planted it. Then one day we were cleaning out the bed and DH thought it was a weed and yanked it out. Later I went looking for it where it had been planted and found out he had pulled it up and tossed it out in the yard. I planted it again and forgot about it. Couple of months later I noticed it had taken off and grown another. Wow, I thought. Tuff little plant.:) Can't wait to see if it comes back this spring, because I haven't been able to do much in my yard this winter.

I had one surprise me like that..I lost track of where it was planted and last year it began to bloom..it is Princess Diana, one of my favorites...

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

I wish I could remember what it was called. It's too dark now to find the tag, but I know exactly where to look.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

I have Jackmanii. It has taken quite a few years before it took off. I nursed a Dr. Rumpel all summer and planted it in the fall. My plan is to have it grow up the down spout...hopefully that's what the Dr will do.

I have about six Clematis...they don't get much care...never pruned ,yet they are lovely when they bloom.

how successful is anyone at rooting clematis?

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I have managed to root several of them. Haven't spent much time on them, most has gone toward rooting my roses...

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Probably a little bit later when it is budding...
