The new beginings of 2008

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thought this would be fun to share all the little sprouts coming up.

This is the bright blue Iris, almost a fairy ring.

This is the frist time any mum I ever planted came back the next year.
Maybe because I planted them in pots last year.

This is the Delphinium 'Black Night' I was so happy to find last year and so afraid I would lose it this winter.

Tills,
I love the pics! My favorite is Tyler with the Camellia, he looks so serious! Would love to see pics of the Camellia when it's in bloom too!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I got this bush as a throw out when I work at (Ernst-Malmo, many years ago) They said it was dead, I said can I have it. OKay take it
I just love it, there was 2 of them, each was different, cant recall the names, but my horse killed the other one but never touch this one. He ate it.
I think she is 20 years old now.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Wow that is the best looking dead plant I have ever seen!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Not that one, the one thats not there any more, didnt take to pic of the missing spot was right next to it.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

I was referring to the wonderfully lush green one that the folks at Ernst said was dead and that you could take it home! You resurected it! For being "dead" as they called it, it looks fantastic to me!

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

My favorite plants are the ones I beg from the big box stores to save. They always charge me but not much and I take it home to enjoy its restoration. I always tell plants I get in Seattle that they are so lucky to go to my garden in Montana and will enjoy the beautiful sun day after day most of the year compared to the darkness of the Pac NW. Tee Hee.
You must know that they just grow with delight. Smiling and singing "The hills are alive with the sound of music La la la la. And leaves that are not covered in mold La la la la.

Tills,
You have two green thumbs not just one like most people!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

My Daddy gave that to me, that was his CB handle "Green Thumb"

Brrrrrr . . . it's going to be in the teens for the next few days. The moon here is crazy bright and it looks like there are little faery fires shining up in the woods next door. The light is reflecting off all the frost. It's neat, but cold. I'll try to get my camera batteries charged and get a picture of Nick in his flannel pullover.

Hope all our babies aren't too discouraged by this. Stay warm, everybody.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

It is cold! I was just outside with the dogs, they didn't mess around, went potty and then ready to come back in the warm house! It is beautiful out but chillllly!

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

And it is morning here and gloriously bright - brillant blue sky overhead and I am at workwork! Sheesh - boy I hope those landscape guys are working today - go guys go!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Its really cold here too, my water pipes froze, cars look like Popsicles with to sun shining on them.
Stay warm all

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Ooooh. Mary. Just what you DON'T need - frozen water pipes. Hope you got them warmed up before anything burst. Maybe keep a trickle of water going?

How about that beautiful moon we keep seeing?

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

DH found the spot some how the wrap came off, He's out with the hair dryer now,
We'er kind of used to not having water, no power no water. get power outages allot out here.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

But burst pipes could cause lots of damage!! So good that you discovered it. I leave a couple of water spouts dripping slightly at night sometimes to make sure that they don't freeze.

Kingston, WA

Oh Tills we used to live in a moblie just like yours but blue. we had many broken pipes. Then we had like a 1" gap under the front door we had all these towels stuffed under it. I think one cold spell we put a heater under there. Poor dave would lay under there with a hair dryer thawing the pipes. I feel for you.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

We just had the belly re-insulated a few years ago, and this is the second time we had to slice back into it to fix a D## pipe, We are now talking about getting a new manufactured home only draw back is, are the well and the septic system for the new codes for Kitsap Co.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

All fixed for now.

Frost on the Poppy, OOOOcold

How are your trees doing?
I have baby leaves on the Red Bud and the crape, so far. nothing on the others.

I still have them inside - think I may have to keep it that way since they've started budding. LOL I have leaves on the crape myrtle and leaves on two of the redbuds. Nothing on the golden rain tree yet. Yours look happy. They must be liking all this sun.

Went out tonight - still a moon, but no heavy frost on the ground. It felt downright warm!!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thats not one of the trees, thats a cutting I started 2 years ago off my Lilac.
Sorry for the confusion.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Wow. I was wondering how you had gotten that much growth. :-) Another one budded out today. They think it's spring. Fortunately, the cats haven't discovered them.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I think mine are confused, nothing new.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Well, I made the mistake of soaking mine in water in the house. Now that they've decided to bud, I think it's the house for them until the weather's much, much warmer. :-)
