Candela, love the odorata with it's spray of white flowers.

Cindy, pretty little pink flowers on Sinbad.

So cold here, I can't get anything done but watering in the g house.
High yesterday was 27.They said 50 today but it's not going to
make it, we're covered in clouds.

Your plants are beautiful Candela. Thank you Jackie. It has been cloudy and raining all day today but I've got several that are blooming now and some are getting ready.

"Bessie Buxton" Beefsteak Begonia. This is commonly known as a Beefsteak but it is not a Rhizomatous. It grows on a thick cane-like stem.

This is the body of the plant. I believe it is called the "thick-stemmed" variety. I've never seen another one that grows like this.

All the pictures are lovely! I thought I would add my "baby wings" and dragon wing pics taken yesterday. My poor dragon wing on the right is still recovering from a near death experience last winter when I accidentally left the sunroom door cracked open after letting the dogs out. It froze almost entirely poor baby. What a trooper coming back at all!

Would anyone be interested in trading some begonia cuttings? I am starting a collection of them. They are one of my favorite flowers. Here is one of mine.I LOVE the odorata!

Love everyone's pics! Oh, begonias to get addictive don't they! I see I need some winter bloomers to make the season more bearable.

B.odorata is wonderful! From the name I'm wondering, is it fragrant?

Tiger Kitten is adorable.

GAgirl, that is such a gorgeous color! Do you know the name?

Blackshear, GA

I think it may be orange rubra. That is about the only orange one I have found information on. When I bought it, it did not have a name tag. It is beautiful. The blossoms are huge.

Thanks GAgirl, its a real beauty!

I've always loved begonias, and over the years have grown cuttings from various plant enthusiasts. Last year I tried some Rex varieties from leaf cuttings. Having always considered them persnikity, I'd always admired them from afar. To my surprise, they've trived! So now I have what I suppose is the beginning of a collection; 18 varieties of fibrous or rhizomous rooted varieties and a handful of tuberous hybrids (if they don't go mushy this winter).

Thats how it starts, the precursor to total addiction, LOL.
