saw a picture of some showgirls last week. am obsessed. i would really like to begin keeping some.
can anyone give me any leads. i have found eggs to hatch but am less interested in that than in live chicks or adults. if i get one showgirl rooster can i breed him with my regular silkies and make more showgirls?
any info would be great but i don't really want to have to start from scratch and breed my own.

i know there are ca couple of showgirl folks on here. i think they are adorable myself. isn't it a breed developed from a cross between a naked neck and a silkie?
yes they are a mix of turken and silkie then with more and more silkie bred into them. but i think it takes quite a few generations (or so i've read) and i don't have the space to house generations of chickens. new question to add to my last questions, if i cant find showgirls and end up trying to "make" some does anyone know if there are bantam turkens?

People know people and i bet you would find someone there to help. Maybe get an incubator and buy eggs from someone.

there is a sight called ovabid.com, and eggbid.com. try one of those, people have stock and chicks for sale, and i think you can post requests for free. and search this forum to see who it is, maybe username silkiechick?
Yes, silkiechick breeds those and hers are beautiful.
thank you for the nice words about my showgirls, yes i do raise, breed and show them. sorry i haven't been on for awhile been busy. here is a link to see pics of some of my showgirls. i'm not done with the site yet but it's a start. i raise several colors of them 11th -14th generation and i hope you enjoy the pics. i have both bearded and non bearded but i don't think i put pics up of the bearded yet.

to answer your questions if you breed a sg to a silkie you will get 50% sg and 50% silkies. yes there is such a thing as a bantam turken but they are hard to find usually people have standard which are to big if you are breeding for showgirls. yes there is a few of us on BYC that have them. on ez-byc i'm silkiechick on byc.com i'm therealsilkiechick, so if ya see me there feel free to chatter away at me i'm usually always there somewhere on one of the 2 forums or both at once,lol.
