Adenium (purple)

Kuching, Sarawak,, Malaysia

I have some seeds of adenium (purple variety) to trade. Seeds are limited, one package only 8 seeds. Adenium also know as desert rose. These variety is most common and easy to plant, and able to pollinate naturally. The color of the flower is pink, and bloom if it is full sunlight. I wish I can exchange for some good flower or plants seeds.

2 methods to plant Adenium seeds:

1. Soak the seeds in warm water for 4 to 8 hours, then lay it horizontally (the reason is that, we don't know which end will the root comes up) on moisture soil (better if compost mixed with sandy soil), cover a thin (as thin as possible) layer of soil. Usually germinate in 8 to 15 days.

2. Put the seeds in a small plastic container with wet cotton inside. Cover up and put in dark place, once it germinate, quickly transplant to flower pot. Usually germinate in 5 to 10 days.

mr. chia, what kind of seeds are you looking for?

Kuching, Sarawak,, Malaysia

Those plant which are able to grow with full sunlight, and not winter plants. My area is rather hot.

Mr. chia,
I see that you have Devil's Trumpet on your want list. I have datura seeds, which are an upward-facing bloom plant that is a close relative, I believe.

I can offer you some of those. What I have are doubles, purple or yellow. I'd have to check on how many I have.

I usually send some extra seeds from other things I have, too.

Would some datura seeds be OK with you?

I have black sesame seeds, but you probably already have that, I'm sure.

Hi Brightstar,

Thanks. I have a lot of datura seeds. What I put in the wish list is Brugmansia, not datura. May I exchange with your beefsteak, do u have any seeds?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Mr. cia, i have some brugmansia seeds. they are whisper x. would they do? i have traded with you before so i know how to get the seed into your country.

Chesapeake, VA

What do you mean by beefsteak? The only beefsteak I know of is tomatoes. If that is what you want, yes. I have green bell pepper seeds, too - these are not hot peppers but called sweet bell peppers - edible fruit, good fried or baked stuffed with meat or stuffing.

I also have purple hyacinth vine seeds, hollyhock seeds, althea seeds, and lots of other things.

Hi Jordankittyjo,

Ya we trade before, I'm happy to trade for your brugmansia. I have plant Brugmansia before, but already 2 months none of them germinate. Is your seeds easy to germinate?

I still have your address, do u have mine?

Kuching, Sarawak,, Malaysia

Hi Brightstar,

I didn't know that beef steak is tomato, from the photo it look like dark red color plant. In this case, may I exchange for your althea seeds? Pls mail me your address.

Mr. chia,
I will certainly be glad to send the althea seeds.

I thought I should list some of my other seeds, just in case you would like some of them, too.

Olive tree seeds
white malva
Hollyhocks
Lisianthus (seed very small, like seeds of foxglove or begonia)
Poppies
Scabiosa
Hibiscus (probably Disco Bell variety)
Easter egg plant (not eat-able)
Salvia splendens
Tithonia
Cosmos
Candy-striped zinnias
Hyacinth bean vine seeds
Convolvulus (like a morning glory flower)
Nicotiana
Cleome

And just a minute...I think I know the plant you called beefsteak...let me check on something...

Chesapeake, VA

This is the plant I call Chicken Gizzard plant. Another name for it is Beefsteak plant. The genus name is Iresine, and there are other types with other colors.

Chesapeake, VA

Let me try that again. I don't know how to put pictures up in this forum. Anyway, I think I have the plant you want, but I don't have seeds. I think you would need a rooted cutting. I don't know what kind of shape it would be in when it got to you. It is a long way to Malaysia! But, I'm willing to try.

I have a rooted cutting already. Wait a minute while I figure out how to show you a picture of it...

Chesapeake, VA

I know I can get this right...eventually...

This is not my plant, but it is one just like it. Except mine is as full as that one...yet. Mine is still growing and filling out.

The whole plant is fushia color.

If you click on this hyperlink, it will take you to the place on this website where the picture is. Click on it and then you can see the big picture of it. I can send you a plant of this if it is what you would like. It is not a recent rooting - it is probably about a year old, and it is in my greenhouse right now.

Hi Brightstar,

I think better don't send the plant to me, for some cases, it took more than 2 weeks to reach my place and by that time the plant will dry off. May be u just add in easter egg plant seeds for me? Thanks.

Chesapeake, VA

OK. I'm sorry that I can't send the beefsteak plant. But, I will send the Easter egg plant seeds. Remember, they are NOT for eating as far as I know.

I would like to try to send a few very small beefsteak plant cuttings to you in the envelop along with the seeds. I was worried about whether Customs would let the plant through. I have heard about Customs people being OK with plants going through, but not soil. This seems strange to me, but that is what I've heard.

So, a few small cuttings stuck in florist foam, wrapped in a brown paper bag, then put in a plastic sandwich bag might be allowed through, and just might live. It is worth trying. And, if it doesn't work, and if the cuttings don't live, you would still have the Easter Egg plant seeds.

From what I received in the past, those send through parcel will be detain by Custom, and only those send as normal envelope can pass through. However, the problem is some letter arrived very late and the plant dry off. May be we try and see how it go.
