Zebra finches

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

Since last year I have 2 zebra finches. A boy and a girl.
Since they met they have been laying eggs, but never one hatched. There was no chick inside, so I presume he doesn't, ahum, provide what's necessary for hatchlings!

Now, for the last weeks they have been sitting on eggs again, because I always only see one bird, and they have been dragging everything inside the nest.

So, now, the last days I have been hearing a strange noise coming from the finch cage. Sounds like a bunch of aliens in there.
But when I go closer to see if it is the adults, the noise stops.
I am terribly near sighted, so I need to almost poke my head into the nest, and I can't because it is deep and covered with Ollie's hair and mine. ( No comments on that one please, we are avid recyclers LOL)

My question now is, when should I see the babies come out *if* there are any, and *if* they have babies, how can I provide what they might need?

In case you were wondering, I have 3 budgies, 2 zebra finches, one canary and one cocatiel.
3 fish that are supposed to be goldfish, but they grew soooo much I believe they may be space invaders or other fish instead.

And I have 3 cats.

Complaints can be sent to my mom, because she doesn't care. ( that's what I told DH)
