Does that mean the person writing the 100th post has to make a new thread?
Then the new thread poster would need to go back and edit the last post and insert the url for the next one.
Do I have this all straight?
I understand it takes a lot of time for some ppl to load threads that are over 100.

No More Than 100 Posts On Game Threads?
No, it wouldn't be that strict, if some people post one or two after a hundred that probably wouldn't be a problem, and of course anyone can start a game.
Here is her post;

Thanks Josephine,
I never saw the link to Terry's thread until now. :-) I looked in all the game threads for it, but didn't scroll down far enough to see Terry's. :-.

Same here - I had no idea about the 100 post thing... kinda changes the whole feel of a game seeing 100 posts is not very long?
They do fill up fast for sure, but it could add some fun to the game to have the switch post by a different person. The new poster would have to be sure they don't cross post with another 100th person.
1~ If we have a set way to word the posts maybe the site wouldn't allow two threads with the exact same name. The first one would take and the half-second later one would get an error message.
example: Word Association Game 1, Word Association Game 2, and so on
4 Letter Word Game 1, 4 Letter Word Game 2, etc.
The exact wording would be key, (if this site works that way).
2~Always use the "preview" is another way to avoid the cross.
right... going to be work but we can do it!
I don't think it will be a problem and it will help the people on dial up.
With the daily butterfly threads I've never allowed them to go too far over 100. I was mainly following protocol I had seen in other daily threads. Plus of course people on dial-up would find it easer. I am on sbcglobal, so my pages load fast. Sometimes I don't even notice when a thread has too many posts, but the ones I started always got a new one not too far over 100. We just have to stay on top of it is all.
:-)
Yes we should listen to Terry, it is not a big deal to start a new thread.
On behalf of our dialup users, thank you for being considerate ;o)
On behalf of everyone else who was trying to access other areas of DG while the server struggled mightily to serve up one of those massive (500-2,000 posts) game threads, an even bigger thank you for limiting the size of your threads!
But...is there a reason to have game threads in a regional gardening forum? We aren't absolute sticklers for errant posts, but the reason we have a games forum is to provide a "crossroads" where you can meet people from near and far who share an interest in playing along.
Ya know Terry,
That thought occured to me also... The crossroad, and meeting people not in our normal range if interests. I think it is weighty enough to reconsider having games in the regional forum. You make a major point!
There are these exact games in the Jokes& Humor Forum... Maybe us Texans can join in them over there.
Here's some answers for that: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/805237/
Sooooo, should I move (some or all?) the games threads to the games forum?
I'm done Terry... as of this morning I am not posting any more words in the game threads in TGF. I figured the games were bc people were kinda lonely and bored from not being able to garden. These are folks I really love and decided to play along to keep company. (I'm sorry y'all, but I will curtsy out gracefully.)
If I had any idea that the threads were to up numbers of posts I would not have played a single word! If we get numbers and people flock here to see what all the fuss is about, I certainly don't want to waste their time or disappoint them. It needs to be good quality discussions and information or nothing! Yikes!
CJ made the best point of all for discontinuing the threads, and that is that sincere questions and garden topics were being overlooked and moving down the page while the word threads kept popping up to the top.
Thanks TNN.. That thread and the other links within it cleared my head!
