Does anyone capture the flash of silver from the underside of a Gulf Frit's wings. It always comes out white for me, and I have never seen a pic with the silver showing.
Collor question
trois; I've got one with its wing fold up. Mostly white as it appears here.

Thanks. I always get white even though I am seeing silver through the viewfinder. Still trying.
Trois, that is a gorgeous photo!
Thanks, bettydee, but the silver is white. lol
I can see that. Maybe you can correct it with something like Photoshop. Have you ever tried taking photos of Baby Blue Eyes, Nemopila insignis, or wild Heliotrope, Phacelia congesta? My photos of them always come out purple. Drat!
I think it is an out of range on exposure, just too bright to be anything else. I will try to underexpose and find out. We still have a few around.

I had several pictures, but like your's none show the silver! Guess it was only in my mind's eye.
bettydee, almost all of my flower pictures come out accurate since I have had the Pentax 10D dslr. The most troublesome has been the little tiny pale lavender daisies, (wild) and if I stay out of harsh sunlight, they come out OK.
mellielong and Shiela, my concerne is that folks that have never seen a live Frit are unaware of their real beauty, and that someone must have a camera that can capture that beautiful silver color. I guess I am now on a quest to find a way.

We will be trying too this spring....People need to see that beauty!!
Agreed!
Trois, I was lucky enough to SEE the silver yesterday. Camera was in the house, so I just sat and watched the GF, and it landed within a foot of my face on a penta. I remembered your post, looked at the undersides, and I could see the silver- it was so beautiful!
Seems like I'm always trying to get a pic, so just sitting and admiring it that close was a treat.

svplantingfool, beautiful, isn't it?
Really gorgeous! With the natural sunlight shining on the wings, it was incredible!
I just don't understand why you can't capture that on film!
Well, at least I guess I'm not the only one having that problem. I think it is just too bright, out of the exposure range. As soon as some start showing up I will find out.
Someone, Debness maybe, posted one the other day that showed a super close up of the underside and not a bit of glimer was showing! It disappears when the camera is around! Not literally of course.
A quest for the answer!
