That's a cute baby you've got there James. It's nice to hear you take such good care of them!
I have a few brugs outside under the carport.. it's been 30 degrees every morning, but they are still okay. They are like frozen in time, not growing, not declining.. just sitting there

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks so much Zz yes I truly am addicted to growing them and if it means bringing them in and out when there is a fear of frost then I am right there. This one especially as it is from a good hybridizer. I hope that it gives something very unique and beautiful.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

It's predicted to snow here tomorrow morning. Snow in Alabama? It's rarely heard of, but it happens. Yikes, I can't wait until spring.
James, that baby looks good!

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Kim I will bring it in tomorrow night that is for sure as well as the rest of my family....

Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

28 is shirt sleve weather up here, It's going to get down to 14 below tonight here in Iowa. I live about 15 minutes from Eclipse & about 40 miles from Brugie & we are used to this weather. I have brug cuttings that are blooming in the basement that are staying nice & warm. Does anyone have any deep yellow brug seeds left over, I lost my yellow that I got from Kyle.
Jerry.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

I may have one or two I will have to check...

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank you James! That is nice of you. I have a much smaller "crop" of seedlings this year.. in hopes of a halfway normal life this summer.. although that could change

Wow Jerry! LOL Location, Location, Location! Sounds like a lot of heavy lifting! LOL Sorry I can't help ya on the dark yellow seeds...

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

I understand that one I hope that the ones you do have grow well....

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Jerry, since you know what the brugs do in this weather of ours, can I ask you a question. Actually anybody can help. I have been keeping my brugs in the garage this winter, with this arctic cold we are having right now, the temps in my garage have dropped to 38. It looked like it was effecting the brugs, so I brought them into the house. We keep the house at about 68. They are starting to warm up slowly and kind of look better. Should I go ahead and just keep them in the house til spring or when it warms back up in the garage put them back out there? Will it harm them going back and forth like that. I wish I could put them in the basement, but I can't get them down the stairs and my cats would try to tear the up.

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

James,
That one looks so healthy. I am very envious of your zone.
I have 2 crosses of seeds from Delisa, but being so new to brugs have been afraid to start them. I guess I need to just go ahead and do it. I have ordered some seeds and other darling DG'r's have sent me others. I will try the coffee filter and baggie method first. (any secrets to starting? I have follow some of the threads that talk about starting the seeds.)
How long since you planted? Just want to get a drift of how long they take to get that big. I will have to keep mine under grow lights since outside is around 10 degrees and the garage gets down to 35 at night.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

This one I started in september

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

That is a nice looking family! How long have you lived in FL, James?

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Well I moved to Fl in August this year so about 6 months I would have to say..

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

They've adjusted and look so healthy.. how's the first winter going for you? (10 degrees here).. I'm moving. lol

Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

Robyn.. I have some large pots of brugs I put in the basement But I also took the top foot off of some of my brugs & repoted them in the basement & they are blooming now, If you take cuttings just keep them moist. I don't think they will make in the garage.
Jerry.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Robyn, I think moving back and forth can be stressful... They might loose their leaves in the house though.. I don't think brugs like sudden changes in temps.. they can take quite a lot if they have time to adjust gradually.

It's been 29 to 31 degrees almost every morning for the past week or two.. my brugs under the carport are doing fine... Even the ones out in the flower bed are still alive... just sticks, but very much alive... in fact, I have cuttings in water in a glass vase outside, they are doing fine too!!

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Pensacola, welcome to Florida. I am just down the road from you.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

yes you are thanks so much...............I love it down here!!!!!!!!

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

MyRee, you need to start your seeds. The longer you wait, the lower the germination. You will need to get them up so that when Spring comes your plants are ready to plant out.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes MyRee I would start them as soon as possible that way they will be large enough for your garden this spring. I just soak the seeds over night and plant them in a potting mix and let them go. I seem to have some success with that method I do not take off the cork or anything i plant them as i have them..
