Velvet Rose In January - WOW!! Check her out!

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Velvet Rose is about to put out her best flush ever. When i returned this fall I found Velvet Rose leggy and scraggly so I cut her back to one primary 'Y'. This is how she responded to that pruning.....I just wish I could smell her....I HATE ZICAM!!
She has just started to bloom. There are still lots of buds to open up over the next couple of days.
If you look to the lower right corner of the photo you can see Sheer Bliss is blooming as well!

Wow,
What a beauty!!! I thought that Florida had been colder this year.
If you ever get some extra cuttings pleawse put me on the list please.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice number of blooms on her, Gary. Wish I was there to see them in person. In Iowa, we are a bit deprived of blooms right now. Nice pictures.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Lovely blooms, Gary. Greenhouse blooms here are just not the same.

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

I have lots of blooms here Shirley. I have Pink Charm, Sheer Bliss, Velvet Rose, Isabella, Bonnie Jean, NOL, Pink Smitty, Sam, EP, MEM,Serendipity,Sweetheart,Ludgers Summer Dream and Painted Lady all have blooms on them tonight!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, that sounds so nice. I sure wish your nose was working tho. It would make them so much more fun for you if you could smell them. Is it getting any better?

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I just hope you get your sniffer back someday. Zicam is bad stuff. Maggi lost her sniffer for several years after using to many chem. at a retail nursery she worked at. Thanks Gary.

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

what is zicam?

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Zicam is an over the counter cold remedy. The nasal gel which I used just once burned the olefactory glands in my nose and now I cannot smell or taste anything. You see the commercials on TV and I thought it was safe.
Google "Zicam lose of taste" for more info on the lawsuits. Now I cannot enjoy my brugs :{ becacuse I can't smell them. I have an ENT appt tomorrow to see if this will be permanent as it has been for some.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Gary, I'm sorry to hear that you can't smell your gorgeous blooms. Zicam sounds like something that should have been taken off the market a long time ago. Seems like over the counter items are harder to ban. I hope you get good news.

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

That is terrible! I am so sorry!!!

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

That is so sad and in America, where we have all these Agencies supposedly protecting the Consumer. Sense of smell is so important to Gardening. I hope you will recover soon☺

(Maggi) Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Beautiful, just beautiful.

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

The products with problems like Zicam is that they are Homeopathic meds and therefore not FDA regulated....therefore it remains on the shelves.
Here's another pic to enjoy

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

wow I am enjoying wishing it was spring here...........lol

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

That brug is absolutely beautiful, I am so looking forward to spring.
Good luck with your allergies. My sweetie suffers frim allergies. When I brought my brugs into the garage in the fall, he couldn't go out because of the 'wonderful scent'. He admires my garden from afar.

It seems like a lot of medications are getting pulled, what a terrible side effect not to be able to smell or taste! The blooms are very nice to look at, i can see how the velvet in the name factors in.Great pictures!
