What does this mean?
thx

Eriostemma ?
I think it's a group of Hoya's that have larger leaves and require more sunlight to flower. Hopefully one of the experts will be along before long to answer your question.
Ok ... I googled and found this: http://www.myhoyas.com/Hoya%20coronaria.htm
Thanks Plantlady. When I click on the link, it wont take me there. Have you had this trouble?
It works when I click on it. Try typing in www.myhoyas.com: http://www.myhoyas.com/ Click on English, and you will see her alphabetical hoya list over on the left side of the page. Go to the "C" section and scroll down to the bottom of that page and click on the the Hoya coronaria photo and you will see it talks about the Eriostemmas.
Hope that helps! I don't know why the first link isn't working for you. If the myhoyas.com doesn't work you can try typing it in yourself to see if you can get there.
Hey it worked. Thanks, that pretty much tells me what you said. A type of Hoya that needs more light and I think is harder to bloom.
Trying to figure out what I want on the DL order. This is hard!
Don't take my word for it. I am a novice hoya grower myself. There are some expert growers here on this forum who can possibly enlighten both of us with information on the Eriostemma group of hoyas.
I know. I have been thinking about placing an order but I haven't had a lot of luck rooting hoyas yet. I have rooted many other plants over the years but haven't quite gotten the hang of rooting hoyas.
Really? Just about everyone that I have rooted so far, I have done by putting in water with a little super thrive. Not all succeeded that way, but most
I've rooted plants in water before but they grow those thin "watery" roots and when I transplanted to soil they seem to go into distress quickly. So, I always try to root in soil if I want a plant growing in soil. I have a dracaena that's been growing in a glass of water for a few years .. as well as pothos but I've that's the way they've been growing since they were rooted in water.
How do you go about transplanting into a soil mixture once your hoyas are rooted by the water method? I use a mixture of potting soil, orchid bark and perlite for most of my plants but have not had luck rooting hoyas in this mixture. Maybe I'm not keeping them moist enough?
LIN...try the method in the .....myhoyas.....site. There are also a number (read...tons) of threads about propagating. My favorite method is in straight perlite with some larger rocks included so the perlite doesn't become cement. water every couple of days...mist twice a day. Heck...everyone has a method....
OH...Eriostemmas are a 'section' of hoyas that share a common trait. They tend to be rampant growers that like to grow UP something, they like full sun, warmth and have large flowers. They don't like to be moved in and out of doors. They are good for warm climes and for greenhouses, sunrooms, etc.

PS...it is a good/GREAT idea to search thru the threads....lots of info on Eriostemmas too.

Thank you Carol! I don't know why I never remember that I can do a search right here on DG!
Thanks Carol
