What kind of external (backup) harddrive do you use?

I am looking for something that is very simple to use. Would anyone recommend that one use something like Norton's Ghost to help with backups? I want something I can use to restore my PC if it suddenly goes wacky. I am running Dell Inspiron 530 wih 2 gb. of RAM and Vista Home Premium. It has about 288 gb of hard drive.
