If you could be a food, what kind would you be an why?

Wichita Falls, TX(Zone 7a)

This silly question was on a job application that my DD picked up. She will be 15 on Friday and wants a job so bad! There is a grocery store near our house that hires 15 year olds. You can imagine how baffled she was to see this question. Her Daddy said to put, "I would be a Twinkie because I would never expire." I said to put, "I would be a Birthday Cake so that I would make people happy." Another that I said (and I was just kidding!) was, "I would be a beer so my Daddy would like me." =)

What would you guys put?

I would be a fruitcake, because... I would last forever and no one would ever eat me. :)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Those are just too funny!!!

Blythe, CA(Zone 10b)

Reminds me of an old saying: If you are what you eat, I'm fast, easy & cheap !

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I keep trying to think of a food that I would like to be, but I can't seem to settle on one.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

A potato (or something nutricious....produce) so that I could add substance and quality to life to all those who consumed me!

Sweet tea - in a tall dark hardsome sweet glass :-)~

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Think I would be an Apple, because it looks good, tastes good, is good for you and it keeps the doctor away, thereby saving you money, so what more could you ask for?
Josephine.

Hold the pickles hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us, all we ask is that you let us serve it your way. Have it your way, have it your way at Burger King

It takes two hands to handle a whopper, cuz the burgers are bigger at Burger King

the bigger the better, the better the burger, the burgers are bigger at burger king

ROFLMAO

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Would you like an apple pie with that....

Has anyone seen that video?

Ding fries are done...

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Didn't strike my fancy, but the State Fair of Texas had deep fried Twinkies this year. yuck.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ROFL that can be annoying LOL

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I manage apartments and my maintenance guys used to go around singing "would you like an apple pie with that"
Annoying is an understatement. LOL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

This is a funny thread.

I guess I would want to be honey. All natural and sweet.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

A red, red tomato. A must-have ingredient in a multitude of recipes, from quite simple to very complicated. Very versatile and liked by most everyone.

mmm and eat like an apple ...

Something cheesy!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Hey something cheesy I meet a man tonight at the bus driver certification class that works in Grand Saline...he say she knows your kids and a gal that works for you...umm I think he said something about attendance officer maybe or something to do with the PE Classes. His name is Tim and he lives by Hawkins...so if the gal that works for you that knows him or he talks to you and says Phyllis says Hi it is because I did LMAO

How cool, I think he's the elementary P.E. Teacher, not 100 percent sure.

A bit OT, but still about food. I talked with my food rep today. Strawberries ordered for the week of Valentines are 38.00 A FLAT!!! This double and nearly triple what I've had to pay in past years. I hope this trend doesn't last all Summer, maybe I should get some planted.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

WOW that is more then I would have thought them to be...I was thinking I should put in a strawberry bed here LOL

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Sandy soil is great. They do NOTHING here in our clay.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I know... tried and failed too many times... the sun gets them here to - they have to have shade here I guess?

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

There are times when we must accept that not all conditions are perfect for all plants...and there not really any conditions that we can change. Oh, gosh, hearing that there have been as many or more wildfires in DFW metroplex today as yesterday. They are again blaming smokers. If you smoke, pay attention.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

no it was from the winds and the power lines it blew down ...TV said so

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I don't think they need shade, Mitch. Cooler weather is the key. If you've ever been to a strawberry farm, there are open fields with row upon row and no trees. We have several farms down this way.

Sorry to hear about the fires up ya'lls way.

Rosenberg, TX

and everything you hear on t.v is right, cuz thats where you got all those commercils stuck in your head....You forgot one...two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, onions, pickles on a sesame seed bun.....but you probably werent a Mickey Ds kinda guy.....

Rosenberg, TX

Speaking of Strawberries, my father planted 100 plants one year and they produced the scrawniest things you ever saw, but the next year they were the size of golf balls..we had strawberries every way you can have them and I pass on them to this day....

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Sun is what I gave them - they just dont like living here I guess. Next place I will try again and see.

Rosenberg, TX

Not that you all got me thinking, I read this article about why cucmbers are better than men.....

Rosenberg, TX

Truly, strawberries take two years to produce, the first year you pluck the flowers and the next year they will produce like gang busters.

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

I'd be a big pot of soup, full of veggies, some little dumplings, warming on a cold day.

I like that one, Cathy!

My Grandfather had a crazy strawberry setup. He planted in cinder blocks filled with lots of sand. The blocks were lined up in rows and every other block was planted with berries, then the runners were planted in the next block over. By the time the Mother plant stop producing another runner would be ready to take it's place and so on and so forth.
