Are you into veg?
Anyone?
Hi Tuink , what are you looking for as a trade?
Hi Robin,
I would be interested in:
Gaillarida fanfare
Blackberry Lilly
Impatiens capensis
MG Mt. Fuji mix
Do you have many Senna alata seeds, or just a couple? If you have many, I would be interested because I want to trade with them here in The Netherlands. If you don't mind, that is!
Just let me know which seeds you want. I also have lots of "left over" veggy seeds, which were not allowed entry into the second chance seed swap. I could tell you later which ones I have (I'm in the office right now, and supposed to be working....)
I have all of those seeds, however I just sent out Mt. Fuji mix and Senna Alata to some one else, so I only have a few of those seeds left. I did put a few of the Senna in the Second Chance Swap, I will put your name on them and send you what I have left in there too.
I'll go check and make sure what I have for you. BRB
I do have about 30 seeds of the Senna, I only have 10 seeds of the Mt fuji though, the rest is yours too.
Do you want me to send them in with the swap or send to you directly?
I would like these please
Pumpkins Uchiki Kuri
Climbing Bean Blauhild
Tomato Sweet Bites
Zucchini Black Beauty
Sweet peppers Vitapep.
Thanks
Hi Robin,
You can send them in the swap, that will save you postage.
I will send your seeds over the weekend.....
Just noticed this about sending in the swap. I will do that instead of going in to post them Saturday. It will save me 10 miles out of the way, Thanks.
Tuink, I'm not sure all those will be allowed entry in to the US...we already talked about peppers in dmail, which are on the NO ENTRY list, but I also noticed Solanum or whatever the Latin name for tomato is, is on the list.
You have the list, but they go by Latin names, so you'd better look them up first or they will be confiscated. Might be confiscated, I should say, then I have a bunch of seeds here from Robynznest and no trade for her, so I have to mail them back to her.
Suzy
Hi Suzy,
The latin name of tomato is Lycopersicon. I looked it up and it's not forbidden from any country. Under "other requirements" is stated: FSA-V (subject to sampling as an
vegetable seed). You know what that means?
As far as the real Solanum is concerned, this seems to be tricky so'Il refrain from that.....
The latin name of pepper is Capsicum. I looked it up too and it's not forbidden from any country either. Under "other requirements" is stated the same as with the tomato.
I think there's a good chance they will slip through!
I'll d-mail Robin about this and leave it up to her to decide what she wants.
Is that OK with you?
LOL! So sorry on the tomato, I think the solanum is a relative (they have little tomato-fruits on them, heck, what do I know about veggies?) And sorry about the Capsicum, I saw the FSA-V and was too lazy to scrool up to see what it meant.
You sound a lot better than you did last night -- I think you transferred your worry to me, because I was fretting about your seeds all day today.
Are you 100% positive I can send a box of seeds to The Netherlands with no worries about importing, no taxes for you to pay, no nothing? But I do send the green customs declaration slip from the PO, I know. Do they think a single hobbyist will be using all these seeds? Aren't you worried about postage costs?
Suzy
Oh yes, they're most definately related (by marriage, I guess)! The solanums they're most worried about are potato's.....
By the way, what does that FSA-V mean? I couldn't find out about that.
Yes you can send the seeds, but please put them in bubble-envies and split the lot over 2 or 3 envelopes. This way we spread the risk. And I don't worry about postage so you don't have to either. I have been having so much fun (and a little thrill too) over this! It's well worth it and probably not as much as you think. To make things easier, try this link: http://postcalc.usps.gov/
When I send seeds over to the USA, I always state that it contains "collectibles". Yesterday I got an envie from KD and she called it "ornamentals". Both of them are, in a way, true. Or are they? If you think you can get away with that at your post office, this may be a good idea for you too!
Never know fretting was contagious! But it is my middle name.....
Have a nice weekend!
xx
Guess what, Tuinkabouter?
One of your envies was delivered today, and totally unopened! Whew! One down, one to go!
Suzy
Am I too late to get in on this? I love trying new veggies and the ones below I've never heard of. I just checked and I have blackberry lily seeds and a host of other stuff. I'm new here and will need good directions for sending you seeds. Helen
Hot pepper "Mme Jeanette"
Pumpkin "Melonee Jaspee de Vendee"
Pumpkin "Uchiki Kuri"
Tomato "Honey Jade"
Tomato "Olive"
Phaseolus multiflorus (beautiful climbing bean)
side note; we were in Amsterdam a few years ago for Floriade and had a wonderful time touring some of your country. My favorite place was Maduradam. I'm probably spelling that wrong but I'm too lazy to check it.
HLSUNNY,
You have d-mail!
XXXX
They're still available!
Tuink - I meant to mention to you about using the term "collectables" that could mean a lot of things, many that are prohibitted from import into a lot of countries (restricted wood carvings, ivory peices etceteras). The evelope you sent me was detained by customs, opened and reviewed and resealed with all the contents I believe. I generally use the terms "ornamental flower seeds", "gift" and put the value under $10, all these things are true and I think customs can clear the packages more quickly. My package to you arrived in 3 or 4 days I believe.
I noticed that you did that. Since then I mention "ornamentals" and this seems to be working well too! So I'll keep it in mind! I must have been lucky anyway as from the 50 or so envies I sent, only 1 got snatched and one got lost all together.....
Looks like Canadian customs are even tougher than those of the USA!
This weekend I'm going to put together my veggie-packet for you. I'll send it out monday so you should have it within a week, if lucky!
Thanks and have a nice weekend!
Tuinkabouter
