Need Home for 3 month Australorp and Buff Orpington Roosters

Lodi, United States

I have 1 Australorp and 1 Buff Orpington cockerel that need a good home. They are both extremely tame and gentle and would make very nice pets or breeders. I am in the Central Valley of Northern California. I ordered 4 pullets and got two cockerels-- I would love to keep them but I am not zoned for roosters. if any one is interested I can deliver them within 100 miles. I really love them and the ladies will miss them. Sigh.

Nice looking cockerels! Have you thought about advertising them on Craigslist? If you do, ask for a re-homing fee because if you just advertise them for free they will flag your ad, I know from experience. So I re-placed the ad, asked for a $1.00 re-homing fee and when the lady came to pick him up, I just gave him to her. Good luck.

Thanks Susan--It is actually an awful picture. I tried to post one image showing both boys--but it doesn't do them justice--and it shows how awful my garden looks at present! I have a friend who will board of them temporarily--but her chickens are free ranging silkie/bantam crosses that roost in her barn's rafters. My guys are too big for that and the coyotes will dispatch them eventually. I've tried Freecycle and got two hits, but the most promising has not gotten back to me and I think the other was looking for a free meal. I hadn't considered Craigs List--but will try that now. They are really such sweet birds--when the girls start sparing the Orpington just walks around them--but he is the first to come when you go out in the garden. Attached is a better picture of the Orpington.

You're welcome Catscan-I had an Orpington roo once until he got in the yard and my Malamute/Siberian got hold of him! He was dead before I could even get out the door. I have an Americauna/Plymouth Barred Rock now. He'ld look better if the girls would stop plucking his tail feathers out though!!! LOL!!! Good luck with your ad!
