... just think of what a wonderful fitness goal this would be ... a great opportunity to cash in on that New Year's Resolution, eh???

:~)

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Chantell, didn't I just read somewhere that you are an exercising Machine lately??? lol

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Are you doing the half-Marathon???

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Yep. Are you doing it with me? :)

How have you been???!!! I miss you, Happy!

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

No, can't run. I'm a hobbler. If you were walking the 10K, well, that would be possible! Now how about a bike ride? That I'd love. I've GOT to start exercising!

Anyway, I'm doing great -- buried in work as usual. I still have tons of bulbs to plant, and I made the mistake of researching the required cooling period so I'm now depressed. I didn't realize I should have put them in the fridge until I had time to plant them. (I had the flu and a cold in Nov/Dec so got way behind.) So they won't have cooled enough. Ugh.

And I haven't starting winter sowing.

I bet your garden is looking wonderful, Wrightie. Any progress on the New-Dane-For-Wrightie? How are your toes and your job?

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

EEK. Sorry that you had "the lurgie" as DH refers to miscellaneous illnesses ... lol Have hope for those bulbs, they may very well still be fine!

Hah! Last year was not a good gardening year for me, and '08 could be interesting as well. We've been working with an architect to come up with a new design for our remodeling project (i.e. lots of plants & shrubs will need to come out of the ground before that work starts) and the puppyshmuppy was born on Tuesday, DH's birthday. He is still grumbling over "having to share" his birthday. LOL

Tootsies are good - ran 4mi. yesterday with no pain. Job is good, though I was witness to some bizah drama in the office (screaming match btwn two people!!) on Friday so I'm crossing my fingers that that is not a sign of things to come.

Sending you Dmail in a sec' ...

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

OMG Wrightie.....running? The treadmill and I have a love/hate relationship - I hate it and it loves to make me sweat...LOL Believe me when I say there's no running involved - very fast walking on an incline. Although I tried running...for a few seconds...amazing how that heart rate went right up!!! Let me know if you sign up for an weight lifting activities...be happy to train for THAT.
As for the bad behavior in the office (unless it's your bosses)...or life for that matter - I have a few favorite responses that work in "most" situations..."That's simply not acceptable" - if I'm really annoyed "Did you actually think prior to letting that come out?" - to the kids "If it's not immoral or illegal...just DO it"...oh yes and the favorite generic "Ok now THAT'S just inappropriate." Amazing I'm still am employed don't cha think? You could have always starting humming the tune to Sesame Street or another kids show...folks don't always get the passive aggressive approach - but it's still amusing just the same. :)

How about the Cherry Blossom run (or walk) on April 6th in DC?

http://www.cherryblossom.org/

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

oooh, strolling through the cherry blossoms...

I'm crossing my fingers that Wrightie will find an enthusiastic running partner here! I think our friend George (who does like plants but isn't -- yet -- a DGer) might opt for half marathons this year since he said he'd done his last Marine Corps marathon, but he might take the run itself a little too seriously to suit you... I'll see if he's planning to be there, at any rate... you don't have to run together.

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

No worries, Critter, I've actually got some running partners who are also registered for the two races listed here, but I do like to spread the word about the *good* races whenever possible.

I'm determined to locate some enthusiastic DG runners though! I know that they're out there ... lurking ... as elves do... :)

As for George, I can relate. I will do a few Halves this year, but I don't think that I've run my last Marine Corps Marathon ... yet.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Well, he's said that before and then run it again. :-) I just wasn't sure if you were looking for people to hook up with before/after or to actually run with -- if the latter, I figure it makes a difference what your usual running pace is, although I don't remember what George's time is one race to the next (yes, he always tells me, but since I don't run the numbers don't "stick"... I know his time is respectable, not a top finisher but not dragging in at the tail end, but that's about all I know!).

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Well, I'm also a middle-of-the-packer for the most part, but I was really just looking to see who on here runs and then going from there. No big expectations except perhaps meeting up at the post-race parties ... or not ... lol It's just fun finding others with similar interests. In my case, if I'm not gardening, then I'm likely riding my horse, training a dog, cooking, or running, etc.

Bridgewater, VA(Zone 6b)

Sounds like a real fun race and very scenic. I've been a runner for many years and have done a few half marathons, 10ks, etc. I hope that I can join you for that one. The half marathon is my favorite distance. Happy training.

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

HOORAY! Keep me posted should you decide to register, btg.
