50,000 photos

Louisville, KY

I have for the last 13 years been taking tons of photos of my plants as
well as plants I have seen on my travels. As the number of photos have
grown I had to make a folder system to ID and place all the plant photos
and pictures into groups. I have been cleaning up the folders and though
not all of the photos are labeled with species names most are in the correct
family folder and hopefully the right groups. I have now started weeding
out older and less attractive pictures and picking the nicest photos to
be uploaded to a new account on www.flickr.com I plan to build a nice
data base full of odd aroids and other plant species. At the moment I am
working on any plant I feel compelled to put up. If their are certain
species or a certain aroid groups you would be interested in seeing send
me a email or reply to the post and I will see about getting it up. Please do not tell me to
post all cannas or philodendrons their are a few thousand photos and many without
IDs in those folder. I can select certain species from those groups and
post these selected ones, but uploading and working on the entire folder would be far to much
at the moment.
I have watermarked the photos and do not want them to be used with
out my permission. So please ask before taking them to use else were.

I am currently uploading hybrid cannas I have breed and a few aroids. I
feel this will be a long term project and I hope to work on it for the
remainder of the winter months. As I add more photos your welcome to
place corrections on IDs if needed and add comments to the photos. I
have just started to post the photos so their should be more to look at
in the near future.

Thanks for the post, bw, and for your dedication to plant photography. I'm sure those of us writing articles for Dave's Garden would find your photos very useful. It is often difficult to find good photos of certain plants. I'll pass along this thread to the other DG article writers.

It would be great, had you the time, to add photos to this site. They will automatically be watermarked for you as you do it.

Brian,

You've bred the most stunning orange cannas I have ever seen. "Ada" is absolutely magnificent. Thanks for the time you've spent on Flickr to share your work with us.

I stand by my previous comments. You are an artist.

Joe I appreciate your comments. I have worked hard to breed some of these plants. Unfortunately when breeding that many plants I seldom find time to propagate many of them but hope to change that in the future if at all possible. I have probably a thousand new seeds to sprout this spring and hundreds of new seedlings growing. I hope to get them all planted out this spring to see what's new. I will be sure to post more pics. The really interesting photos are of the dark leaf forms I hope to have them posted up soon.
