Has anyone ever ordered iris from these people? I checked the GW, and they are good for peonies, and I've ordered dahlias from them, I'm just curious as to why they seem to charge quite a bit more for iris rhizomes than other places - almost twice the price, in some cases.
Do they send monster rhizomes, perhaps?

NO idea Ive only bought peonies from them but they have a good reputation.
I've only bought dahlias, and those are pretty much the same price as elsewhere, so I'm curious.

I would never pay those prices for any of those irises. Wouldn't matter how big the rhizome.
Well, that's what I was wondering, they're charging $20 for something I found elsewhere (several places, not just one) for $6!

I can't grow irises in my shady gardens but my Mother and Sister do and they have ordered exclusively from Ferncliff. They are spectacular plants. I don't know all the names but will post a few photos. I only assume they think the prices are reasonable.

Sometimes it's just good to ask the vendor why their prices are so much higher. Sometimes you get no answer, or a rude one, but quite often too there is a reason given that you never would have thought of if you'd not been told.
And I love those Iris pics. New colours, sizes and shapes of everything just popping up all over.

There are some great iris societies around the country. Your BC society can be found at

The next nearest one is on the prairies,
Northern Lights Regional Iris Society.
These -and all the US societies - have great iris sales and iris info.

you won't be paying nearly as much for such ordinary sometimes wrongly labelled rhizomes.
The BC society is really super and very active.
Ferncliff has great and unusual peonies but I would never buy iris from them.

Getting wrong named iris is such a let down., I ordered 7 from a Canadian mail order catalogue and got 7 wrong iris. Always buy from a reputable source.
