Recycled paper kitty litter - compostable?

We've been using some scoopable recycled paper kitty litter for our new boys. I like it for the most part... It only lasts about 5.5 days before we can smell it throughout the house (I was expecting it to last 7 days), but that might be normal down here in humid Houston. These are the first kitties I've had since I moved down here. I do scoop the boxes out everyday, and I love the fact that I can just flush the scoopings. But I'm wondering about what to do with the bulk litter when I change out the boxes... Can I compost them?
