Ok....I know it is probably a long way off from now...but I thought I would see what interest there is for another spring roundup in College Station. Also what dates would perhaps work for people, where people would like to have it, etc. The pavilion we have used in the past requires a very early reservation due to graduations here, last year I reserved it in Feb. This fall we had it at a park closer to campus, not probably as nice but much cheaper to reserve. The people who attended this past fall could maybe weigh in on what they thought of it. The biggest issue would probably be space, it wouldn't be large enough to hold everyone, also no kitchen facilities. Anyone have any thoughts?

Spring roundup in College Station
We're interested! We would prefer a pavilion with (real) bathrooms, a playground fairly nearby, and as many of you as possible! Everything else is optional. :-) We couldn't make it in the fall (and we missed you!), so we didn't see the last place. Their website looked nice, though, and they were considerably cheaper than the previous place.. Did it work out ok for you all? (I know.. that should be y'all. I haven't worked the Ohio out of my vocabulary yet.)
Yeah I think that the one at Southwood Valley would be better. The spring roundup is larger and would need something larger than at Hensel Park.

I've never been to College Station . . . this would be an excellent reason to go!! Let me know what dates are decided . . .
Spring Break starts March 8th. Would the 8th or the 15th be too early?
Anne
That is also spring break for A&M, so I would be available. I know the last couple years it has been at the end of April, but it doesn't have to be.
If you make it earlier, that will give us the opportunity to attend more r.us. so that might be good.
And really knowing Texas weather there's no way to know if it will be baking hot or snowing. lol So that's not a prob.
Anne
This is GREAT. We are pretty new and have never been to a RU. We have kin in Bryan and are retired so we are totally flexable. Count on us to be there! Gene & Ivy
My mom and I live in Bryan, we'd love to join in!!
So if nobody has a problem with March 8th or 15th can we go ahead and settle on that?
Sounds great!
I like the 15th, has a better chance of being warm.
True.
Sounds good to me!
Have to check my son's scouting schedule, but the 15th sounds good to me.
Ok, Blue Eyes do you want to try to reserve the pavillion at Southwood?
About that....we are going to need to come up with some system for paying for the reservation. It is $350, $150 of that is a refundable deposit. I do not have the money to put up front, but I also don't expect people to pay now for something months away. Any ideas on how we could do this?
I'll be happy to send you $15 either by check or PayPal to help pay for the reservation. Let me know!
Thanks for the offer Marylyn. I want to make this as fair as possible for everyone. Last year a few generous people donated a good portion of the required money. However, I would feel more comfortable if it were an equal contribution from everyone attending, kind of like frostweed had for the fall RU. My only concern is that if money was to be collected at the roundup, how do I pay for the reservation ahead of time. Does that make sense to anyone?
Absolutely it does.
Kim, i have talked to Frank and we will cover the 150.00 reservation fee, that still leaves 200 for everyone to cover, so we might want to make sure we will have enough attendance to cover that, or change the location to something more reasonable, but either way we will cover the deposit and you can collect the rest at the swap.
What do you think?
I offered $100. Does anyone want to match it? We can be repaid from collections at the time.
Anne
frostweed and anne....thank you so much for offering to help. We would then need at least 40 people to attend in order to have an individual contribution of $5/member. Last year we had over 50 people, but I don't know how many of them were members and how many were guests. If we set a date of March 15, the RU is 9 weeks from now. Is that too early to ask for a tentative head count? That way we would know whether there is enough people to ensure people are paid back later.
We will be 2 adults and 2 children. :-)
Sounds great! Should we do this here or should I start a new thread perhaps with the date?
Oh, a new thread with the date is probably a better idea.
Ok...will do! Thanks everyone!
I dmailed Roadrunner so she can put it on the RU schedule, Kim.
AuntAnne, I call your $100, this sounds like a ball and gives us a chance to see the kids. May even get them to come?? Gene
Yup. Blue Eyes do you want us to simply mail you the checks?
I haven't been checking in faithfully, so I only saw the newer thread. For anyone who followed this thread, here's the link to the new one:

Bookworm28, Nope, your link takes you right back to the original thread, an endless loop. I have no idea how to fix it so back to you. Gene
This link should work. Good idea bookworm! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/803532/
So very sorry - I shouldn't try to do things like that when I'm tired. Thanks for fixing it, Kim!
I'll be there, but I don't if I'll have DH with or not. I can pay for part of the pavilion ahead of time. Just need an idea of how much. I'll be renting a room for atleast 1 night and going out to eat with DGer's again would be great.
